I have received a few questions about this Japanese binding technique, so here are my 2 cents :3

This way of binding, done with a long soft cotton or silk strip, was once used by people under their kimono.

Women didn’t used it then only to achieve a perfect tubular kimono silhouette. Everyday styling was above all meant to be confortable and practical. More than a binding aesthetic, sarashi was used as our modern bra = to support more than to constrict. Pregnant women also use sarashi as a belly support ;)

For men too, sarashi was a tummy undergarment. But it also had a “cool“ aura effect as it was also associated closely with the samurai class (and the yakuza but that’s another story xD). Today, sarashi is still a pretty common sight in period anime and drama.

Nowadays, I have only seen it worn under happy coat during festival and for cosplay (=decorative reasons not real binding).

I personally do not recommend using sarashi to bind your chest “for real”. It can be dangerous for you if not done properly.

Many modern undergarments exists and can be used to achieve the same effect as sarashi

A modern sport bra and/or a girdle will do the trick for most people. If you don’t wish traditional “women items”, I have also seen good advices (brands, where to buy etc) from the lgtb community here on tumblr so I encourage you to have a look around :)

If you wish to wear sarashi style binding (for cosplay or real), please never, never, never use ace bandages.

And never squeeze yourself in too much. As our modern undergarments, sarashi is here to help not smother you! If you are unconfortable (trouble breathing especially), you probably put it on wrong ;)

Day 1: A Moment of Inspiration

What you can see here are among the most popular posts of the last month for the convin (Connor/Gavin Detroit Become Human) tag for the last month. And presumably popular in lollipop, cityscape, rick day, eva long, dostoyevsky, and all the other random, unrelated tags added to these posts.

You can see two identical posts made by separate bots that feature a bit.ly (so, disguised, you don't know whether the address is safe/where you're going) link to a website that contains an image of a pretty young women (but who knows what else).

Each post is liked by about a dozen other bots, and only bots. (I reported them all, so can confirm their profiles were obviously those of bots/porn bots.) Some of them even use the same image in the pfp. Some are developed blogs full of porn images, some are clearly newer and don't even have a pfp yet. They are all gaining legitimacy from each other by the likes which act as links to their Tumblrs, and adding legitimacy to the post they have liked, which links to their ultimate goal: the site where they make money in undoubtedly dodgy ways.

They are doing this to legitimise their websites for search engines like Google, but if you don't care about that, it has the same effect in your Tumblr tags.

If we don't stop them, ALL your favourite hashtags are going to be full of meaningless posts like this, and probably porn you don't want to see (very different from porn you DO want to see).

This is why we report and block, lads. Not just because they are annoying and irrelevant to us, but because if we don't stop them they will take over this hellsite, and they very clearly do not understand the nature of the hell in which we live.

They made a fucking war season. We're literally exploiting the memories of characters that are ww2 coded to get their emotes and cosmetics. Cosmetics that are partly behind a paywall (that has increased in price). To reach one of the spirits, you're expected to shimmy through a thin hole in the wall.

With all the past controversies this game has had, this one tops the cake.

Sky, by its very nature of being cosmetics and IAP centred, is not the right platform to tell stories like these. "But they've done war stories before!" Yes but those were clearly fictional wars. Wars against dark beasts in the sky. This season features a girl hiding from other spirit soldiers to get ingredients for a sick friend, it features a mother being taken away from her son by soldiers, it shows a father watching his son going to war and receiving the news he's died, it shows soldiers being attacked when they're just shopping.

All of these? Perfectly valid and powerful stories to tell on their own! But not in sky. You take their emotes and use them in unrelated scenarios. You wear their cosmetics and try to match them with other stuff you've got in your closet. You PAY to get season pass exclusives. It's fucking insane. "Ayo where did you get the cosmetics from?" Oh I got them from the boy who pleads for his mother not to get taken away! "Where did you get that sneaking emote?" Oh yeah I got it from the peasant girl who was hiding behind walls from the soldiers!

Doesn't anyone see how fucked up all of that is???

It's not about the fucking TOPIC. It's about how it is HANDLED. How could it POSSIBLY be respectful to hide cosmetics and emotes behind a paywall from spirits depicting events that scarred the world and are STILL happening.

We still hold moments of silence for these people. there are still people from ww2 alive today to share their tales. We still feel the wounds that are left from that time period and now???? We have to pay??? To get "victims from a war" clothes????? We're going go cycle that into the already present better-than-you cosmetic culture???

Fuck that.

Fuck all of that.

What disappoints me the most is the fanbase though. There was a whole OUTRAGE when the cat hair was changed to IAP, but this? The only thing people care about is "heehee fun cosmetics" and lore.
