Like Father Like Son//Hodr & Taeyong

Taeyong had been spending much more time with his father and he could not have been happier. That was all he’d wanted really, the chance to get to know his dad. As it turned out his dad wanted to get to know him as well and that was just the icing on the cake. He’d immediately agreed to spend the day with his dad, thanking the stars for the amazing timing since he had the day off. Or maybe his dad already knew and planned it. Either way Taeyong had been over the moon as he walked happily next to his father.
The rain didn’t bother him at all. He was too happy and really it felt good in the heat but he didn’t complain when the two of them sought shelter in an alley. Until he noticed how tense the god of winter was. “Dad?” He felt Hodr pull him behind him and as he peaked out his heart fell. The men approaching them didn’t seem friendly. And they weren’t backing down either. His mind went back to that night he’d protected Felix in an alley just like this. The old him would have cowered and been content to let his dad handle these thugs. But the fear of being hurt was so overridden by the fear of losing his dad, however irrational and unlikely that was. Instead of hiding, Taeyong put his back to his father’s, keeping an eye on the men creeping up behind them. He let his own power free, the air temperature dropping and his eyes glowing blue. His power was only a fraction of his father’s but even that was worth something. He didn’t want to fight but he would without hesitation to protect his family. “Dad what do we do?” Even as he spoke he kept his eyes fixed on the men who stared at him like a hunter stares at prey.
hodr’s eyes shift to the side when taeyong moves to press back against him, narrowing somewhat in thought ― with a god and demigod’s power combined, the deity had a good feeling success was leaning in their favor. yet, as with all recent things, hodr forced himself to views things from a parental standpoint; such was not something he was used to in the long run, but tried nonetheless.
risk putting his son in danger, or see him out safely with no possibility of harm?
the answer seemed clear in the god of winter’s mind, though for once he doesn’t have the chance to expand on it ― the power flowing off of taeyong does not go unnoticed by hodr, and though his own strength quadrupled that of his son’s, a singular thought made a small smirk tug on his lips; he sure got it from his dad.
he doesn’t precisely know what they’re up against, but that wouldn’t stop him from trying. squaring his stance in a readying manner, the god of winter’s eyes begin to glow an icy blue, frost snaking over the expanse of his skin and the surrounding walls of the alley around them. if their attackers didn’t know who they were up against before, surely they did now ― it was frigid, the clouds overhead gathering a grey swirl as steam rolled past the assailant’s masks, and if one thing was clear it was this; hodr never backed from a challenge
“ we fight. “
