BURNISH ⍙ BRIGHT

HE A SMOL BASTARD. SMALLER THAN MANY.

       “OWWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwWW!! Come on, Lio! Be a little more gentle, will ya?!” Tossing his head back melodramatically, Galo howled like a dog into the empty space around them. All kinds of wandering eyes making their way toward the two to see what the fuss was about before glancing away. “I suppose I can give you a little thanks though. I mean everyone’s always tellin’ me to bandage up but no one’s actually ever gone out of their way to help me like this!!”

The bold-headed-blue-haired firefighter gave the pilot light a sunshine laced grin. Little confident and appreciative chuckles rolling forward along with it. 

       “But the way I see it: Bandages and scars are the signs of a man with resolve!! My burning spirit can’t be put out so sometimes I end up BURSTING WITH ENERGY like a volcano and charging head first into things without a care in the world!! My resolve can’t be tamed so it ends up all over my body~”

INFERNO, INFERNO▹▹▹

  Blank was the visage of one enduring the excessive tumult of the BIGGEST BABY HE HAD EVER HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF ASSISTING, wheat stalk locks falling gently into place after being blown back by the sheer force of the cry.

                  “Maybe no one tries because you do that.”

A featherlight concept, velvet tenors even softer than their normal fare, and thus easily drowned by the BURNING speech that spilled henceforth, causing pause in careful, leather-clad fingertips in ensuring the mild laceration remained free of infection. He wasn’t exactly adept at first aid, far used to the living flame inside which caused their bodies to remain eternal till the day they returned to ash, but, hopefully, it was better than nothing at all.       Was it worth it to comment? He could only comprehend a few of the abstract vows that the pure-hearted fireman used as his living mantra, and while that genuine tone was something he treasured...           It wasn’t betrayal if it was for his own good, right? To utilize the rolling wave of positivity might seem cruel to some, but as it was, the former arsonist leader proved merciless, pressing the heel of a boot against a toned thigh and tugging HARD to both tighten and secure the wrappings around a chiseled abdomen.

                   “There. That should do it.”

🐢  - Mental Health

For a Burnish, you could say the spectrum of a healthy mentality is on a whole different level than a normal individual, considering one has a sentient extra-terrestrial entity resonating with the very fabric of your soul’s reality in varying degrees at all times. So while also dealing with he normal ins and outs of the human psyche, your emotions are being augmented, especially the more volatile inclinations, such as anger or sadness - as far as his people go, Lio is very well off mentally. His ability to contain the urge to fan the flames and transform that desire for more and more into something progressive and philanthropic is amazing.       Only when he was at the edge of mortality, the end of his life, after having lost everything he had been working so hard to build after being betrayed by one of his own people that he had risked his life, pride and freedom to save, did he go all out.                             

🍬 - Family

While obviously he viewed the refugee Burnish and his closest men as family, I’ll take this as an opportunity to talk about my favorite headcanon concerning Lio’s parentage, being Simon and Nia. I can imagine they wouldn’t have been able to raise him for long, all things considered, and placed him at a young age in an alternate reality on a nascent planet that had the potential to host Spiral Energy but hadn’t quite figured it out(Lio and Galo later corrected this little detail by igniting the ENTIRE GODAMN GALAXY AND TURNING IT INTO A SPIRAL GALAXY OOPS.)   Any childhood memories would fade, and he would only recall being very, very loved, and would be in possession of the photo of the Dai Gurren Dan after their victory against the Spiral King(Which, not having Kamina in it, would explain why Galo is not familiar to him appearance-wise.) While he favors Nia considerably in appearance, height and the tendency to go full blown anti-spiral dragon monster when he gets too angy, his limitless stores of energy are most similar to his father, even being called the ‘engine’ of the mecha in a similar way that Simon powers all the ganman he combines with.

🌼  - Happiness

⌛ - Sleep.

Prior to saying goodbye to the Promare, sleep would be a luxury to one who would likely get no rest in favor of others sleeping peacefully. The paradise for the Burnish was subtle, but homely, where individuals lived, at the very least, smiling, and the three top brass of the terrorist group would have to be diligent in assuring there would be no surprises in their daily routine.           Thanks to the constant regeneration of the body and mind, this was likely less deleterious as it would be to the normal human, but a hair-trigger alertness probably wouldn’t allow for much rest. Now adays, it just seems like he has too much energy and never fucking sleeps and probably keeps Galo up all night playing the burnish version of candy crush while not realizing he’s slowly killing his fireman husband.

💕  - Love.

As powerful as he is. and since I’m forcing spiral energy onto him, it’s suffice to say that absolutely every single minute action that Lio takes is based in love, for his people, his friends, his sense of justice and humanity.      This love is all encompassing, and likely gives him a bit of trouble in the romantic sense, as if you’ve become one of those he keeps close to his heart, he’ll have trouble distinguishing between philia and agape. I say this because Galo was screaming about him taking responsibility for taking his first kiss and Lio was like “oh ok let’s set the planet on fire”. In that regard, their intense partnership, and his relationship with Gueira and Meis, would be the closest to romantic feelings he has ever developed for another person.
