Went on a Pokémon pedicab ride today with some friends & it was so fun!! I caught a bunch of Squirtles, a Psyduck, a high-level Aerodactyl, and a bunch of others, both rare & common, plus hatched a bunch of eggs. It was great. I asked my mom to hold out her arms to show off the shawl so she started flapping her arms & making bird noises. Then started laughing at herself. I really am a little version of my mom, haha.

It's a good thing my parents came to visit because it gave me the last kick in the butt that I needed to finish the shawl I've been working on for my Mom for like...3 years? So yay!! Luckily all I had left to do was cast-off, weave in, & block it (barely, bc it's cotton), which I've been putting off for a long time, but at least I was able to get them done before my parents go back home. This was my first attempt at a shawl & I can definitely see where I made mistakes, but I'm still pretty proud of it! I've been afraid to tackle a project this big (despite knitting for the past decade), so a project for a loved one was the perfect thing to get me motivated. I'm really excited to FINALLY have this off my needles so I can start my first new (big) project in a long time. It's really nice to have something to both be proud of right now, as well as excited to give it to my Mom/personal hero. :) #knitting #shawl #studystripeshawl #cottonknitting

I got a text from my dad at 10:30 this morning that said, "Don't forget to call Mom to wish her a happy birthday!!" I think to myself, "Like I would forget to call Mom on her birthday," before going back to sleep. Fifteen minutes later, I hear the doorbell. But since it's 2016 & my friends are considerate, I never answer the door unless I know someone is coming over. So I ignore it. Then I hear the person knock. I continue to ignore it. Then I hear them walking around on the porch. Now I'm getting nervous. Who is this determined to get me to answer the door? Cops? Murderers?? Really persistent salespeople??? No, thank you. They knock & ring the doorbell again. I finally hop up to answer it and...it's my parents! Which you probably knew, because there's a big picture of us right there. So yeah, my parents dropped by! It was very nice to see them, even if it was pretty unexpected.
