I'm making a few changes to try to be better organized...hopefully. Still work in process of course and now that I was able to get some of my works recovered while others is best to restart from scratch and a different email. Now I have new Discord. Hopefully I will have better communications and updates when the new year begins.

(Slight spoiler for Book 8) This would be weird but bear with me.
Humans, sadly, can hold grudges for so long that they extend to the next generation. So what happens when a rejection of marriage sparks a grudge that harms innocent future generations?
-----
Now we know that Kalim's grandmother is a sister of a prince (back when Kalim's grandmother ran off to marry a merchant), who is the grandfather of Minajael Tealrajah. You would think that Kalim and Mina (short for this post) would have a close connection but they don't.
Here's the thing, Mina has suitors, we don't know how many letters are being sent. Mina has respect for his grandaunt (who ran and marry a merchant). There was an uproar when she left.
Now remember what I've written in the first paragraph of this post? About a grudge that harms the innocent future generations?
Who's to say that the former suitors of Kalim's grandmother didn't hold a grudge against the rejection or indirect rejection of a merchant being chosen over them? And that grudge has formed and shared to make a group of sorts? A mercenary guild has built against the royal family and is now targeting the Al-Asim and is using relatives to do so. Using every marriage rejection to hurt the Al-Asim.
So every time Mina rejects a marriage proposal, that mercenary guild swoops in to make a deal to then go after the Al-Asim. The mercenary guild uses the relatives of Al-Asim ("promising" that there's good fortune to come if the marriage goes through) to give the royal family the arranged marriage proposal letters, knowing it's going to be rejected, and uses that chance not only for those that been rejected to hire them but also to settle a generational grudge. The more bad blood between the royal family and the Al-Asim, the better pay and underground connections are formed. And these connections are what prevent it from the old ways to change more than ever than previous generations.
Mina finds out that the senders of the marriage proposals have connections to the Al-Asim and without talking to the adults, he already had experience of the adults not listening to him, decides that he won't have a good relationship with Kalim and the younger relatives. So Mina doesn't even know that every time he rejects, Kalim gets attacked by those who got rejected. Kalim doesn't know why his relatives send assassins after him (the relatives lost a "business" opportunity -their words- so they are taking their anger on the closest thing to the royal family, Kalim.) Kalim doesn't even know that his "Mina-nii-sama" doesn't have the same enthusiasm of seeing him like Kalim does to Mina. Mina only show enthusiasm and respect towards his greataunt, the one who ran away from the royal family.
It's not Mina's or Kalim's fault this happens. It's not Kalim's grandmother fault this happens.
But...how can you stop this 'grudge' and uproot it from it's roots to stop harming the future generations? The same grudge that it's stopping the change from the 'old ways' because this 'grudge' and others benefits from it?
------
((Yes, I know that this 'grudge' can be easily called another name but I'm sticking to that word. The game gives hints of other bad organizations or actions (ex. Playful Land and its implication of...child tr***cking) but never gives a name to it.))
((This idea came about when it's mention that Mina rejects marriage proposals, Kalim is enthusiastic about seeing Mina but Mina doesn't returned it, and wiki stating that ones sending assassinations are relatives (though it's not told which branch of relatives but we can guess they aren't related to the royal family).))

Speaking about the dresses and style, I've come across mentions that Penelope spends money on jewels and dresses yet can't get out without a knight whom all of them don't see her as the a member of the Eckhart. Whether this is fact or fandom, there's no denying that the staff are against Penelope. Whose to say they never deliver or put away the dresses in her room and making Penelope (Og or S) to dress up in simple dresses or this is dobe by orders from someone else. After all, Derek "oversees" her and a flashback to Yvonne (when he is approached to a girl with similar fashion) they are dressed similar.
Another sign of Penelope being caged.
Oh my god... yes.
Of course, Penelope would just make a commotion until they actually brought them to her room, seeing as it could be seen as the servants stealing from their lady and above their place in the duke's eyes.
However, Derrick probably does some things like cut her money off, or the servants ruin her expensive dresses.
Adding more to the Ask I've sent, regarding more on Derrick and the connection to clothing style.
So there's no doubt that man gain toxic Sis-con on Penelope, but also gain lolita taste as well. I say this because all of Yyonne's dresses (on flashbacks) have more frills and bows because that's more appropriate/in-trend for small girls due to the "princess style". Thus the style is connected in his mind to Yvonne. Remember that a young lady with the same style when she approached him to thank him for saving her in the hunting event, evoke a memory/vision of his sister. He hates that Penelope is wearing what's considered in his mind "not appropriate clothing" (Let's face it, the Eckhart men don't know how to treat women).
When in truth, that style is gaining popularity or more in style for young woman and those that kept the style is to show that they are "innocent and pure ladies". If we also have to take in account the possible era the story is inspired by, Penelope's dresses is considered less scandalous than its made out to be.
Though it makes me wish the author/publisher/whoever-that-decided-the-wardrobe did more for the wardrobe for Penelope.
