-human+not human body-sharing duo that ends because one of the people in it dies to save the other person (and also the world). There is at least one other human+not human body-sharing duo where the human is completely consumed and the first duo fights against them

-immortals that want power and will destroy humans to get it are contrasted with immortals that fight for their humans that they have so much love for

-protagonists who take part in their awful government’s harmful ways but come to learn better and try to fix the damage that’s been done

-someone who died young before the series even started did lots of research in hopes of bettering the world, and even though it was forgotten or ignored for a bit, the information is brought back with the help of the person who mourns them most to help fight the bad guys

-the main antagonists are very obviously evil but you can kind of see how they got there

-spooky shadow eldritch being

-lots of characters who are at odds with each other and have conflicting goals/motivations come together at the end

-a decision that a main character made as a preteen involving their maternal figure changes their life completely, eventually leading them to uncover and stop a government conspiracy

Once, I saw a post that mentioned the power of love playing an important part in the Bartimaeus sequence, and my first thought was what?

Because in this story, love doesn’t create physical protection like in Harry Potter, and there are no magical straight romances (or any romances at all) that fix all of the protagonists’ problems. The three pov characters spend a majority of the book in conflict with each other, which doesn’t seem like the basis of a love-based plot, especially when the story is an urban fantasy adventure/dystopia series.

And it’s true, love in this story doesn’t have direct consequences, and it’s not often presented in the forms that are loudly declared to be love in media (there’s zero explicit romance, no undying family ties, almost no lifelong friendships, etc.). But that doesn’t mean it’s not present or that it’s any less important.

Once I started looking for it, I could see that love is the biggest driving force for good, the thing that separates the protagonists from the antagonists.
