please listen to Jewish people when they tell you something you said/did/shared was anti Semitic. I’m so tired of Jewish voices being shut down when we point out anti Semitism. I’m tired of no one caring except for Jews about Jewish safety. I’m not just talking about blatant neo Nazi anti Semites; I’m talking about friends on the left who deny or even justify rape, murder, torture, and kidnapping and who refuse to see nuance. It’s completely possible and normal to want pain and suffering to end for both Gazans and Israeli hostages. It’s not one or the other. It’s both.
And for those of you who might say that I’m being self-centered: “it’s not about Jews! Gazans are suffering!” I hear you! But I can’t join your protests and your movement when SO much of it is wrapped in extremist ideology and anti Semitism. I want to be able to fight for human rights for Palestinians without having to throw my own people under the bus or spreading centuries-old anti Semitic rhetoric. I was involved in organizing and protesting in the US in the fall of 2023, but I got disillusioned when groups such as JVP were justifying or denying the very real tragedy that happened on Oct. 7th. How hard would it have been to acknowledge that what happened to Israelis on Oct. 7th was awful AND that a continued war killing thousands and thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza was also a terrible tragedy that needed to end?
