        He was more perceptive than Oikawa had intially given him credit for. However he wasn’t so keen to give up one of his closely guarded secrets. So he simply relaxed his shoulders and gave a bigger smile.

        “Well if it’s a gift for a girl it wouldn’t be very good if you bought it would it?” There was a good cover up. A birthday present from a girl in his class. So now whether he bought it or not he wouldn’t be suspected. Nimble fingers plucked the clip back up from its spot and he headed for the cashier. If he seemed unashamed then he was less likely to get caught in his lie and he got the coveted hair clip.

he  held  a  small  bag  of  candy in his own  hands, likely a present  for  his  teammates after enduring a tough week of practice. but he’d check  out  after  oikawa.  after  all, the desire  to  pry  was  shamefully  tangible.

        There was a startled jump that Oikawa quickly tried to recover from as he slapped a smile on his face. It wasn’t his most convincing, but it wasn’t as if the other setter would be able to distinguish his genuine expressions from the false ones so easily.

        “Ah! Refreshing-kun. It’s been a while hasn’t it?” Oikawa replied while smoothly setting the clip back among the other accessories. He wanted it badly, but he couldn’t buy it now that there was a witness. Maybe he could come back another day and indulge himself. A voice in his head (that sounded strikingly like Iwaizumi) said that he shouldn’t care what others thought and his love for ‘girly’ things wasn’t anything to be ashamed of.

        Sometimes it was easier said than done. “I hope you’ve been keeping Tobio-chan and Chibi-chan in line.”

sometimes he  wondered  where his team would  be  without  him,  honestly. a smile flashes across delicate pallor in response to  the   captain’s  facade,   flaxen  oculars taking attentive note to the  visibly shaken appearance &  care  taken to nonchalantly return the accessory to the shelf.

         Staring longingly at a hair clip he had found with a sparkly alien decoration. He’s been running low on pocket money, and he couldn’t just wear it in public either. But still…

it’s been a while since he’s seen the seijou captain, & while it isn’t exactly a bad thing... well.

regardless,  he  finds  himself peering curiously at the small hairclip pinched between his fingers.

head tilts in bewilderment as his logic is offered.  tokyo  is  rather  far  away, severely limiting  sugawara’s  options. he’d  hate  to  encumber  any  of  the nekoma  players  by  asking them  to come retrieve their spiker---

      Sugawara definitely didn’t look happy. Who would be when they had to stay and clean up after other people?

      “Do you need any help?” Hinata asked as he stepped into the gym, one hand gripping the strap of his bag, preparing to take it off if the upperclassman did need help. He might as well take it of now, though, because whether or not he said yes, Hinata still felt like it would be polite to help him out.

fleeting laughter passes from curved mauves, mien dappled by rose flecks. hinata’s help does not go without a smattering of deep-seated appreciation; ---especially considering the number of faces that had passed by without even an approximate semblance to sympathy.
