what is the swarm challenge?
The Swarm Challenge is a challenge themed around the idea that your clan believes it needs to be as stern and unforgiving as, say, a colony on ants. As they believe this is the only way to maintain proper order.
It was published in the Clangen's discord under the challenges thread.
What this challenge does is it adds other classes to your clan that's heavily enforced, and does so by dividing up the traits the game can give the cats into "Strong, neutral, and weak".
This is where my warnings for discrimination based on skill comes in, as the challenge adds three different classes to your warriors
Elite Warriors are warriors that have purely strong traits, or one neutral trait. They're the best of the best and given the most respect by The Swarm the Clan.
Plain Warriors are the middle class of the clan, what respect they have are based on what you the player decide to do with their actions and story depending on what happens in your run. They aren't given the utmost respect, but they aren't disrespected either.
Worker Cats are cats who have weak traits that don't have anything strong about them to cancel it out, often hanging around camp as den builders. Though these cats can move up upon proving themselves by gaining strong traits over time, or swapping to a medicine cat or mediator.
Medicine cats and Mediators are given respect for what they do, and are often regarded the same as plain warriors.
Elders are respected no matter what, as it's the belief that these cats needed to be strong to reach such an age.
The divide between the classes is very strong, but the collective nature of The Swarm The Clan keeps it going, as much like with ants or bees, you keep marching no matter what.
This rigorous system is held up under the belief that this order will keep The Swarm The Clan strong.
This does also mean that talking with outsiders is heavily discouraged: but not forbidden.
I'll leave the traits division here for you too. I recommend looking at the original challenge on the discord though. It's a lot of fun to manage and I think that it can make for good storylines
