The fucking feather. What the hell. What.

Why a feather?

Not much to say about this point specifically but?? It could have been anything! A pen! His glasses?? Idk?? Why a feather???

Why did it remain a feather in the dark world?? Can Kris control that somehow? What?

(Well, alright... It's worth acknowledging that I guess it doesn't technically HAVE to be one of Berdly's feathers, Seth could just think it is.... but then why do they blush?)

When a feather?

To me there are a couple of options as to when Kris got that feather and all of them are confusing:

They got it during the night between chapter 4 and 5 specifically for the dark world of chapter 5  If that were the case they certainly had time, and they could have gotten it from anywhere Berdly had been including but not limited to the Librarby, the school, his home??? However... How did they know to take it? Did they make a dark fountain during the night specifically to talk to one of the flowers and then seal it behind them? But logically Asgore should have been sleeping in that very same room so that seems kind of risky?? Actually, they wouldn't even be able to seal the fountain without the SOUL so this is just not possible. I guess they could have talked at the flowers but then how would they know what Seth wanted?)

They got it in between making the dark fountain and pulling the SOUL into it Unlikely, literally why would one of Berdly's feathers be anywhere near enough to where they were for them to manage to get it while Susie was talking to herself, but still a possibility

They got it before they knew they would need it Why??????? For what possible reason would they just have one of his feathers???? Do they still have a feather to give in a Snowgrave route that was aborted after freezing him????????? If so: when the fuck did they actually get it??????????? Like there's the semi-obvious option of them just having happened to have one of Berdly's feathers on their person whenever they struck the deal with Seth and Seth noticed and asked for it but again I ask WHY do they have it?? Like Seth does promise that they made the deal before Kris made the Dark World but... I mean, flowers can't communicate normally? So Kris had the feather before being able to communicate with Seth?? But still knew exactly what they meant by “I want... THAT”? I fear I'm biased but is that not??? Kerdly???? Or just them generally liking him which is just as good in my opinion!!!!!

How a feather?

Did Kris...

pick it up off the ground somewhere?

pluck it from him? (Probably not when the SOUL is around bc he would have to say something about it then right??)

get it as a gift?

get someone else to get it for them somehow? (But that still leads to the same issues of "When?")

(Why Seth?) 

Why did they ask Seth specifically to help? Why did they ask for help at all??

Also, they only had a few minutes tops in the light world to do this assuming they didn't manage to ask them earlier, is there a difference in how time passes?

How does Seth know of Berdly?

Asgore has literally never even thought of Berdly as far as I'm aware. He doesn’t see him and Kris as friends since he was worried they were entirely friendless before Susie 

Rudy has talked about Berdly and might have done so with Asgore close to the flowers but would he? And would that talk really give Seth the impression that he was a genius worth emulating??

Berdly has bought flowers before (not impossible, but when? And for whom??) or possibly helped Asgore with his shop (also possible, he does contribute to society according to himself and his two (?) jobs/volunteering positions. But again, Asgore never mentions him as far as I'm aware and I don't think Berdly mentions Asgore either)

Kris brought him up themself (they could have said that Seth reminded them of him and then played up his intelligence when they seemed interested? But when would they have been able to talk to Seth??)

Seth remembers Berdly from times he has been over at the Dreemurr residence, presumably gaming with Kris (there is, I suppose, a possibility that the plants know a bunch of things even if those things haven't been talked about in their proximity but I don't think there's proof of that being true because of course they know of the Dreemurr family, they were probably in their home before Asgore got the shop. And of course they know of Noelle and they probably know that Susie likes her since Susie bought flowers for her and Asgore possibly asked about who she was buying them for? Or she said it on her own? Either way, I don't think any of the flowers (with the possible exception of Flowery) know about anything they "shouldn't" (say lightners they haven't met) except. For. Berdly. The forgettable little bluebird. Why? Just. Why and how and???? And also I suppose that one enemy that is cosplaying Milk Looker what is up with that)

Susie does it for a couple of steps with Noelle to get her to wade into the lake before respecting her hesitance to do so and carrying her instead before she gets pulled far enough to get in the water (and out of bounds, so to speak)

Ralsie does it with Kris to lead them past the spikes while following Susie (who went past them without help) because he didn't want her to find Flowery and talk to him

Noelle does it to Kris in the weird route, specifically to "break the rules" (of the game or of reality, who knows?). In and adjacent to the weird route she also talks about her and Kris being stuck in roles before Kris somehow changed and thus changed her as well

Both the water and the spikes are things that Kris can't go through or in without help. In the normal route, it seems Noelle can't either. (Kris and Noelle doing Kris and Noelle things.) The ones who CAN are Susie (famous rule breaker, see for example s-actions and r-actions as well as acting without Kris's say so in the enormous room), Ralsei (famous rule follower except (especially) in chapter 5 where he at the very least teeters on the edge of breaking those rules and thus reveals that they might be self-imposed in order for him to keep control of himself) and Noelle in the weird route (when she follows "Kris's" command). The fact that Susie lifts her up so that she can do "something crazy" without uhhh the breaking her completely thing is like really sweet from a meta perspective??? I think???

Nowadays it is getting more acceptable to the general public that she has a different hair color or that her hair is short or that she's played by someone who isn't a woman (or, like, white). Anyway, do I think this was intentional on Toby's part? That it means something? Absolutely not, but it's fun to think about it nonetheless

This chapter was originally supposed to be a part of chapter 11 but uhhh they both got away from me. Enjoy Kazu being horny on main and suffering and also Gundham suffering a little, as a treat!
