This Is My { Kingdom } Come
“A human in a pack of wolves?” It wasn’t as farfetched as his tone may have implied. Raleigh had known of alliances held with the Monroe clan that took in stray humans the same as they had wolves. Humans were capable of the pack bond, but there were only extraordinary humans that could call themselves wolves without needing The Bite to make them into beasts. The girl smelled so heavy of wolves, a great multitude of them at that, she spoke of them as pack and in that moment Raleigh hadn’t a single doubt that they saw her the same as she saw them. There was a pang of sympathy, only slight, because losing pack was like losing yourself and he could understand that loss.
The question as to if this was Hell had him laughing, something bitter and a little off kilter. After a moment of his cackling he shook his head, “No, it’s not Hell. A lot of us wish it were though.” The young Beta brushed a few twigs and debris from the dusty golden tufts of his hair. “You’re in Purgatory. This is where monsters go. Things that go bump in the night. Vampires, wolves, berserkers. This is where we end up because of our nature is neither pure enough for us to reach the gates of Heaven, or the lick of Hellfire. So we’re left here to suffer.”
A human though, that was the first he’d seen of that here. Generally humans were shipped right to their corresponding eternal rest, be it suffering in the pits of Hell or frolicking or whatever in Heaven. “Humans don’t…end up here though. What did you do to come to find your rest here?”
She doesn't mention that she's a hunter, because for all the ways that she knows it's strange she's a human in a pack of wolves, she knows that her skill set will make it doubly so. "We were a... different kind of pack." She thinks of her Banshee and their other human, the boy who'd lost himself to a demon fox. She hopes against all hope that Scott's found a way to save him, to bring him back from the brink of where the Nogitsune has taken him, and more than that, she hopes that he understands that she forgives him. That her death is not on his hands. For a brief moment, she loses herself in her own thoughts and almost misses his explanation for their location. Brown eyes widen though, because Purgatory. Is this where her pack is destined to find their rest? She drops her gaze her to hands and is a little embarrassed to find that they're shaking. It takes everything she has to squeeze them tight, to force them to still and only after she does does she speak. "My friends and I... my pack... we sacrificed ourselves to the Nemeton tree in order to save our parents." There's an almost bitter laugh now, and Allison glances up, meeting Raleigh's eyes. "Is it stupid that I'd do it again? Knowing that this is where it gets me?" She doesn't care though, because she would. She'd do it again, a thousand times over. "How long have you been here?"
