The shipping/love triangle stuff in Chosen might be the worst case of ship bias I've seen, because in one hand you have fans saying Buffy was lying to Spike because he was dying or just felt platonic love towards him, ignoring a lot of what happened in that season, on the other hand you have Spuffy fans believing seriously she kissed Angel as a hello and gave him a speech to brush him off because she wants to live happily ever after with Spike, ignoring she is allowing herself to figure her life out not tied to a man, and instead making it all about that man.

I'm not even hopeful about what they will do with Buffy in the sequel, but all these suggestions we should know nothing about her life and she should have a vague, unnamed, absent love interest makes me wonder if they even like her much outside of a ship.

One of the most disturbing parts of Buffy/Spike for me it's not overlooked but praised by some Spuffy fans and that is the fact Buffy displays a fair amount of willingness to accept him after the attempted rape, even soulless (like at the beginning of Season Seven). They say is romantic and important that she sees the good he has in him while he is still soulless, that she's not just dehumanizing him. Is understandable that she does not want to kill him after Seeing Red, and complicated, but can you imagine if she had started to become cordial to Angelus shortly after he killed Jenny and got chipped? Well obviously Spike had a lot more humanity and helped her while Angelus couldn't, but then that'd also be saying what Spike did is easily forgivable under certain circumstances and that is so moving Buffy still sees his goodness even in the situation of being almost raped.
