The tiny elf girl is entirely content with this state of affairs, leaning forward to rest her arms upon the top of his leafy head. “Is this a habit of yours? Picking people up as you see fit?” 

          ❝ SHE IS NOT-------- ❞

          pause. deep breath.

          ❝ ranunculae is alright... she’s fine.          she is fine... and i will see her soon. ❞

❝Tuls, it’s so lovely out today,❞

Her voice lilts with a honeyed delight that only she can elicit,  brightly colored eyes looking out at the tall glass windows which walls her off from nature and its colorful beauty. Flowers unfurl from sleep as the last of dawn breaks into a blue and cloudless morning.  From a small distance she can see yellow magnolias smile at what  the weather has brought to them and she wishes to go join among them and converse in a day’s events before she is ushered off to official duties. The princess turns away from the window and locks her eyes with her guard, a grin spreading across her features and her eyes shine like pearls at the prospect of getting to spend some time out.

❝Can we go say hello? Please?  I’m sure they would love to see you as well!❞

          SOFT SMILE CURLING itself upon his lips, tuls’ heart           warmed at the sound of her voice, as it so often did----           an effect only she had on him. his eyes softened when           she turned to face him, head dipping in near reverence.           she brightened his day the same way the sun and           flowers brightened hers, and whilst he’d be content to           stay indoors if he could be by her side, he’d admit the           fresh air would be quite welcome. besides, how could           he ever deny her such a simple delight?

          every time the same story, every time the same certainty that this is the one,          tuls, i know it, this time it’s serious!, and his hope kept dwindling — and his          concern over ranunculae grew with it.

          four long years trapped in magnolia’s mind with only his art and illusions for          company and no hope to see ranunculae in the near future made tuls grow          restless, despite his infinite patience.

          despite it all, magnolia knew the consequences of failing the pact, though he         did worry that she underestimated them.
