every woman has a natural predisposition to magic, but not all of them are able to manifest it. despite this, the mere possibility made them be seen as a potential threat. because of that, women were heavily suppressed. however, some resisted this oppression and used their powers to protect themselves, which eventually almost led to the downfall of humanity.
Theo-Theo is one of the main heroines, wielding pink fire magic. she spent almost her entire life within the walls of a laboratory. to her, a pair of local scientists who monitored her condition and conducted experiments became something like parental figures. she perceives the world in a distorted way: despite the cruelty she faces every day, everything in her mind takes on softer, kinder tones. meanwhile, things that are genuinely good and gentle feel strange and unsettling to her. her world is filled with cute unicorns, rainbows, sparkling magic, and warmth - rather than blood, suffering, and malice.
Blue-Blue is one of the main protagonists, wielding violet fire magic. he was originally a choir boy in a church and had nothing to do with magic, since men, unlike women, are not naturally predisposed to it. however, after ending up in the laboratory, he was subjected to experiments that allowed him to control fire - though only through intense pain. this power was given to him by his fellow victim, Theo-Theo. like any boy forced to bear magic through experimentation, every use of his power causes him suffering.
Mina is another main heroine, possessing telekinesis - a rare form of magic. she was brought to the laboratory after a long trial for the murder of hundreds of people. the motives behind such a devastating act are classified, as is all information about her past.
eventually, the three of them escape the laboratory, determined to stop every "magical girl" they encounter from completely destroying humanity, believing that those girls are the true "villains" of this world.
Kael is a boy who has lost all faith in humanity after the death of his twin sister. he is also a former experiment subject, but escaped long before the others. before being taken, he witnessed his sister being killed the moment her magic began to manifest, after which he himself was taken for experimentation. Kael can create weapons from his own blood, as well as from the blood of the dead. however, like Blue-Blue, using someone elses power causes him pain. he has sided with the magical girls, believing they have the right to anger and revenge - something he fully intends to help bring into reality, as the structure of society itself took away the person most dear to him.
