while i do like the idea of the “big strong butch” trope that goes around here i can’t help but think about all the butches (and femmes) that don’t feel connected to the characteristics that are attributed to them on here.
being a strong butch shouldn’t always be physical. a strong butch can also be someone who carries themselves with pride even when they’re told to be less, to put themselves in a corner. a strong butch can be someone who deals with a disability or chronic pain but that still shows up for their community. it can be the closeted butches who push through and face their fears every single day.
i think we should all start to appreciate the people in our community for their emotional and mental strength too and not focus only on what they can offer you in terms of physical affection.
this is all to say, i love you all types of lesbian, you’re loved and appreciated just as you are.
