no, the opposite. im deeply frustrated that so many people in this fandom ignore the actors, characters and fansies of colour who make this show and fanbase what it is. im tired of seeing people bend over backwards NOT to include actors and characters of colour in their 'appreciation' for the show. frankly im just tired of this fandom. first it was snubbing michael ahomka-lindsay's jack and totally ignoring the uksies brooklyn girls, then it was the phony and obvious as fuck brigading for ann-margaret's medda larkson (who is, objectively, A WORSE CHARACTER than the better written medda larkin), and now white fansies are out here stitching all their preferred adaptations and characters together in a way that just so conveniently abandons all people of colour ever cast in the show. it's EXHAUSTING.

(matter of fact lets wake up the issue w newsies on broadway/tour for only casting white girls in the ensemble because got forbid katherine plumber isnt white. and uk wasnt ballsy enough to give the world a black jack/kath either)

also stop making them stupid. for the love of GOD stop making them stupid. maybe most of them don’t have a “formal” education but they’re street smart and quick on their feet and resilient and they should not be reduced down to an accent for shits and giggles. not every newsie has to be a white cisgender man. get real with it. you agree. reblog.
