THE BUTCHER ⤵︎
JEFFREY MASON. A sick minded man with no limit for apathy. He’s the main star of the MORDUM show, proudly doing his ‘work’ in front of the camera. Born in Flint, Michigan to Judy and Louis Mason; Jeffrey was never normal. When his parents divorced at the age of 12, and his mother remarried a year later, his behavior worsened. He gained a step-brother, Luis Woods, which created a sense of power and control over the younger boy. Jeff would project his own early violence onto Luis via snuff tapes, killing animals, showing him how to fight, etc. But as they got older, his mental health declined. Jeff became more isolated and resentful due to sibling competition, causing him to take out his built up rage and violence onto his younger brother in the form of attempted murder. Luis got away with nonfatal injury, which left Jeff in a state of relief and regret. The older brother was put into a neglectful psychiatric facility for 2 years until the staff decided that they did not want him anymore. Surprisingly, he was able to get back on his feet somewhat, getting a job as a security guard at different venues, in which he met Nina after a harsh and wild fight. Afterward, they got drinks and Nina was like the brother Jeff missed. When horror movies and beating up concert goers stopped satisfying his violent urges, a chance encounter with an enigmatic video store clerk named Toby showed him exploitation in the violence. After already beginning their spree, Jeff drunkenly decides to reconnect with his step-brother, making a new rickety bond with their shared ‘interest.’ With Nina, Toby, and Luis, they begin truly living out their fantasies together—even if it’s at the cost of Jeff’s sanity.

THE KILLJOY ⤵︎
LUIS WOODS was molded to be the nihilistic contrarian he is now. Already warped by early neglect and violence, his developing mind fractured further when his mother left and his father remarried at 11. With no guidance or proper role model, his step-brother, Jeffrey Mason, took him under his wing. Luis’ formative years were exposed to violence by his brother, and he followed in every footstep. The same interests, the same music taste, the same fashion… he wanted to be exactly like Jeff. Though, when they got older, Luis watched at his brother spiraled further and further—ultimately resulting in Jeff attempting to murder him in his sleep. After his brother was admitted and he recovered from his injuries, Luis decided that everything was too much and he needed a fresh start. At 16, he dropped out of highschool and ran away from home with stolen money and no real goals. Luis ended up crashing on couches and living in cars for a long while. Until finally, he got an occupation at Home Depot on top of getting extra cash from fronting a small Black Metal band. But long after harbouring violence since he was a boy, a simple argument with a boyfriend built up to involuntary manslaughter; in which Luis finally felt like he had some power over his life. Though he couldn’t just let his victims go, no, he can’t be abandoned again. Instead, he lets the carcasses of his victims rot in a wooden shed deep in abandoned woods. One day, he gets a text from his older brother, Jeff. Despite the incident he caused, Luis always missed his brother, so he decided to reconnect. They begin to work together, along with Jeff’s friends, regardless of whether it only makes the strain in their relationship better or worse.

THE BAIT ⤵︎
Nina Hopkins is a young woman just as sick and demented as her male counterparts. She was left to be a parent to her younger brother, Chris, as her father had passed and her mother was left inattentive. Though, Nina didn’t mind; it gave her a friend when she lacked them. Despite this, she grew up quite normal from the outside looking in. A reserved, but smart girl who liked to play string instruments, draw, and watch anime. But, her growing obsession with true crime, especially the perpetrators themselves reached something in her left unchecked. She found their psychology fascinating to the point of obsession. She felt seen in ways she has never felt before. Validated by sick minded people who do sick things to the innocent. Her particular interest came to a height when her older classmates hospitalized Chris, leading her to egg on the worst of them, Claudia. More fights with her led to a deeper captivation due to suppressed feelings and wanting to hurt Claudia beyond just quarrels. This resulted in a transactional relationship with her through hate and intimacy. Soon, alcohol entered Nina’s life, which dulled whatever conscience remained and let herself indulge deeper into bad habits. As she grew into her highschool years, life began to get duller than it already had. Nina had barely passed classes—usually skipping school, doing petty crimes, and getting into drug use; usually ending in going to jail for a day or two. Surprisingly, she had passed and took a gap year to save up for community college. In this timespan, her relationship with her mother deteriorated further. Whatever small amount money Nina got, it was spent on drugs and alcohol, and if not, she was spending it on concerts, where she met Jeff. She had snuck in, leading the man to attempt to escort her out. Instead, Nina decided to provoke the large man, resulting in a brawl. The whole thing reminded her of Claudia and their volatile relationship. The exhilarating feeling of having someone you can fight, but at the same time be close to. So, naturally, they went out for drinks after. What began as a violent first encounter became a sibling-like friendship. But the final straw for Nina is when her and her mother erupted into a fight out of proportion, leaving the older woman hospitalized. More than anything, Nina wanted freedom in that moment. So, she decided to run away with Jeff and leave behind what was ordinary. And as soon as he mentioned violence beyond what is morally correct, she didn’t hesitate to follow.

THE DEVOTEE ⤵︎
An ordinary girl turned into nothing but a worshipper for a false idol; Jane Summers couldn’t even tell you her own life. A workaholic father and a disabled mother is what ‘raised’ her in a small unkempt house. Jane never had any friends. She was homeschooled and never had the opportunity to leave her home. Her mother needed care and her father was always gone. That is, until Christmas day. Her parents had gathered enough money to buy Jane a used laptop. They had thought maybe their lonely daughter could have at least some form of entertainment. But what was an innocent gift turned into obsession for the girl. Days turned into weeks turned into months where Jane had spent listening to the piercing of a dial-up noise. Forums, chatrooms, AOL, websites—Jane knew it all. She doesn’t remember when her father left. She was huddled in her room. She didn’t need to know. Why know anything outside of her room? Outside of the internet? As far as Jane knew, she didn’t have a physical body anymore. Why take care of it? Anytime she had stepped out of her room, seeing her aunt taking care of her mother, seeing the look of disgust on their faces from the stench, she would block it out. They weren’t real to her. Nobody was real. Until, while scrolling through a black metal board, she found him. Luis Woods. The man of her dreams. She soon knew everything about him. His family, his step-family, his near murder, his step-brother’s admission, his band, his job. Jane knew that this was the man for her. And she knew Luis loved her, too. Soon, letters, messages, phone calls all showed up to his house, his job, his family, all declaring her love and talking about the future they will have. Even though there was no response, Jane knew Luis was looking at these letters lovingly. She just had to see him. On one fateful day, Jane had done herself up. Showered the grime off, brushed her short hair, put her best smelling clothes on, and went to see him. And there he was, working at Home Depot, looking at her with love. Luis may have ran away, sure, but that doesn’t mean anything. He was just overwhelmed with love! It became regular. Jane would show up to Luis’ work, and either lose him or get kicked out. But one day was different. Luis had finally listened! He had told her, “Come to the back of the building. I have something to show you.” And who is Jane to say no! She followed him to behind a dumpster, thinking her life is about to turn around for the good. Only for a large man and a short woman to attack her. She was sure Luis was scared. He was frozen, watching. And later, when shes taped up in a basement, with Luis along with Jeff and Nina watching her, she was sure Luis was also kidnapped. But he never responded to her cries while Jeff and Nina tortured her. Or when Nina took a liking to her and began to keep her to herself. Or when Nina became her pseudo-God Jane is to worship. But it’s okay. One day, Jane will be saved by Luis, her true Lord. And they will escape this sickness and love each other forever.

THE CAMERA-MAN ⤵︎
Nothing could describe the sick manipulation that Tobias Erin Rogers sets onto others. Toby was the second child of his parents; his older sister being Lyra. His family was anything but functional. His father was a drunk and his mother and sister was beaten nearly every day. But, Toby wasn’t really affected by his dad’s wrath. Instead, for being the only son, he was favoured. The boy was treated like his father’s best friend. Toby was brought to sports games, given any toy he wanted, and never got into trouble. He watched his sister always get the punishment for things that he did, and Toby never felt bad. Why would he? It’s better for him and made him feel power. Through middle school, his dad began to let him drink, like father like son. It turned Toby towards more risky behaviour without any real conscience or consequences to stop him. He got into fights, bullied others, did petty theft, vandalism, and even began to copy his father’s behaviour towards his sister as he got bigger. As long as Toby had fun, that’s all that mattered. But the thing that changed everything, for better or for worse, was when Toby came home one day to news. News of his sister’s death, along with her friends, in a freak car accident. Toby felt nothing except for anger. Anger that his punching bag is gone. The one he could always use to blame. He watched his father, despite all the abuse he caused, be saddened by her death. It was like a betrayal; not seeing his dad laugh in the face of it like Toby was. And a year later when his dad got diagnosed with liver failure, it just confirmed that he was weak. Toby had gotten even more uncaring, kickstarting his heavy drug addiction at 16. His dad died, leaving only Toby’s mother and him left. But, an addition to the family was added. Hatchet. He named it while high off his rocker. A little boy Toby had with a girl named Natalie. They were both teenagers, still seniors in highschool. Toby doesn’t remember if it was an accident but Nat loved the thing. Toby didn’t, but he stayed around only to fuck around with the girl. Nat tried, she really did, but Toby’s drug addiction only worsened and worsened, causing her to leave with Hatchet. He didn’t exactly care, but Nat leaving meant his main source of money left, too. So, out of desperation for drug money, he got a job at a shitty RadioShack in town. There, he found his managers ‘extra money grabber’ tapes. Snuff films from around the nation, sold to those with the money to buy. Toby watched them all in the backroom, feeling things no drug could ever compare to. He felt something unlock in him when he found those tapes. He saw another way he could have fun. The moment a sketchy looking guy who bought way too many gory movies walked in, Toby took him to the back, and showed him the dream. With Jeff, Nina, and Luis, Toby had picked up the camera and recreated everything he wanted. But maybe Toby can find even more joy in toying with his new ‘coworkers.’
