intersex thistle headcanon: simple viralising congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).
It can give you irregular periods, premature puberty (such as a deeper voice at a young age which fits how he has a deep voice at a young age if youβre like me and interpret him as a teen as a dungeon lord meaning in the short haired scenes heβd be pretty young but his voice sounds quite deep for a kid) . the premature puberty can also give you early body hair and severe acne. you can also have ambiguous genitalia at birth. it also causes fast growth, which you would think doesn)t fir thistle because he is so shortβ¦ but if you are like me and think thistle was like 14 in elf years when he stopped aging, that mean in the scenes where he has short hair heβd be way younger like 6-10 kinda age but he is the same height so maybe he had a thing where he was unusually tall as a young child but then stopped growing.
I was thinking that when he first arrived at Melini, they thought he was a boy, but then he ends up having his period later on and that is very confusing for him.
gender wise he prefers he/him pronouns and being referred to with masculine terms so perhaps he would try to keep that a secret and just use his natural androgynous traits from being an elf as a cover if anyone notices something βoffβ so that people keep referring to him that way (and also fear as well at how they could react)
edit: I read another source that says it can cause short height which is fitting for thisrle as well because he is indeed short
Edit; thinking about it, thistle probably didnt know any other elves and since elves are known for being androgynous perhaps he thought at first it was an elf thing and that all elves are like this. Will be confusinv for him if he finds out it isnt either postcanon or from reading about elves
