This has probably been said before, but everytime castiel acts "weird", i think about how it's explained by him being an angel. But anytime we see another angel in spn they're really good at interacting with people so castiel just comes off as autistic in the end.

Supernatural really had the potential to do so much more with the angels than they chose to. They were (I can’t find any other way to say this) really watered down considering they were these terrifying ancient beings and Sam and Dean could believe in monsters and demons, but angels were too far.
I like most of all when Supernatural is more on the dark side, which is why Lazarus Rising is one of my favourite episodes. Religious themes? I eat it up every time. And Lazarus Rising was just, perfect in so many ways. I wish every episode made me feel the way that S4 EP1 did. Castiel really has the best entrance of any character and there are a million reasons why this episode was so memorable.
