What Can I Get You?

"Oh wow, you’re so lucky to get to work there! I’m happy for you. It really sounds like a lot’s happened. But it’s all good! Any girlfriend in your life?"

"No, there isn’t. Not that I mind too much. My life has already been so busy this semester that I can’t imagine having time to have a girlfriend." Nolan laughed softly. 

"That makes sense. I haven’t gotten to spend nearly enough time with Chris between working and school and my book," she sighed. "Hopefully things will calm down soon, and I’ll have time for everything. And you will too."

"Yeah, hopefully!" He grinned and rubbed his jaw. "Have you been to any of his parties yet this year? Or are you planning to go to the next one?"

She blushed slightly. “Well, I went to his Halloween party. But other than that, no. This semester is much less busy for me so hopefully we’ll be able to spend more time. Have you?”

"I’ve been awesome! I still work at Denny’s but I just found out that my first graphic novel is going to be published and I’m ecstatic about that. And of course I have Chris, too. Who I’ve liked since my teens. Whoops. What have you been doing with yourself?"

"Wow. That is a lot of exciting things going on! Congratulations on all of that." He grinned at her. "I’ve been applying to grad schools, interning, and things of that nature. Not a whole lot of time for fun, but I squeeze some break time in there."

"Grad school…ugh I don’t even want to think about that right now." She shook her head. "That’s really great though. What sort of internships are you looking for? So I can keep an eye out for you."

"I actually already have a student internship. Over at the Met." He smiled a little. "Thank you for the offer though."

She punched Nolan’s arm playfully. “No! Of course not. Even though he is a pain.” She didn’t really mean it and jumped to give him a big hug. “It’s been so long! How are you?!”

"Ooooow." Nolan rubbed his arm in an exaggerated manner before she suddenly hugged him. "Oh, um." He hesitated before hugging her back with a soft laugh. "Um, I’ve been pretty good. How about you?"
