The older you get, the more you choose calm over chaos and distance over disrespect. Drama becomes intolerable to you and your peace becomes your ultimate priority. You start surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health, heart and soul.

Nobody tells you how hard college is. Nobody tells you about the nights you’ll spend overthinking, wondering if this is really what you want to do for the rest of your life. Nobody tells you how much sleep you’ll lose or how some nights you’ll cry until your cheeks burn. Nobody tells you that you may never experience that “connection” with a career that you’ve been waiting for all your life. You’re thrown out of high school and told to pick a major. You hadn’t put much thought into it before. Your parents say you should be a nurse, and you can’t think of anything better so you just say “sure.” You put all this time into nursing courses but now you’re having second thoughts. You don’t know if you can see yourself as a nurse or if you’d even make a good one to begin with. You’d always dreamed of making of difference, of being creative, of inspiring people. You’d always loved to draw and write but now you feel as though you’re throwing it all away - that you’re losing a part of yourself. They always talk about the good times. They talk about the friends you’ll meet and the memories you’ll make, but they never tell you how hard it is.
