The chibi-madness continues! This time we have a look at the painting process for the Twilight Knight, a crossover character from Kingdom Death - bakerofish

Sorry for the radio silence folks. Bakerofish has been working on his Super Dungeon Explore set and the heroes are ready! Sparkleburst!

Bakerofish of Moonpunch here! Sorry we haven't been updating as much as we'd like but we got some new stuff down the line. Since Sodapop Miniatures is coming out with an expansion on Super Dungeon Explore called Forgotten King, we have a step by step guide on how I paint anime-style eyes. I know there has been a few tutorials out already on the subject but I noticed that most, if not all of them paint on the irises within the sculpted iris. This tends give less of a chibi, anime look. Now you may like that look but me personally, i like the oversized eyes. Just a few tips that may not be immediately apparent from the pics: 1. Start this process on the basecoat of the face, before highlighting. You will mess up and you dont want to ruin all that work highlighting and shading the face. 2. Make sure youre mirroring every stroke - draw left eyebrow, then immediately draw the right and so on. This will help greatly with avoiding lopsided eyes. 3. When painting the pupils, keep the fig as still as possible. Rotating the fig around while dotting the pupils may give the fig a lazy eye look. 4. Keep your paint thin. You will make mistakes and you will cover the, up with more paint. Thin paint leads to a smoother look. 5. If you like the look, feel free to stop at any point. Above, i could have stopped at pic 5 or 7. 6. For extra shine or to smooth out a clumpy eye, a drop of gloss varnish to cover the iris should do the trick. Hope you find this helpful.
