Yuan Mei Xin - The First Royal Princess, Sun Hou's older daughter, born by Silk Consort Jiu Ling. Despite being only five years old, her manners and personality are befitting someone of her rank, thus many are already calling her "the perfect princess".
Yuan Lu Yu - The Second Royal Princess, Sun Hou's younger daughter, raised by Pearl Consort Sing Oi. A three year old girl already bearing lots of scandals to her name, due to her birth mother having been executed by the king, and her unusual attachment to her "Dada" Hong Zai.
Yang Zen Dao - The king's chun'iao, the closest attendant and confidant. Always following Sun Hou like a shadow and ready to give his life for his king at any moment.

Imperial Ministry of Personnel
Yu Men De - The Imperial Minister of Personnel who is also the immediate superior of the Court Ladies. With a face that always seems to be set in stone and curt way of talking, he is feared at court for his strictness.
Xun Bai Dan - Men De's capable right-hand man and proxy. A talented overachiever with a personality seemingly complete opposite to his superior and is most often sought out to help deciphering and translating Men De's words and orders.
Imperial Ministry of Finance
Lui Zi Tian - The Imperial Minister of Finance, openly going against King Sun Hou and desiring the throne. With the ability to wrap everyone around his finger, he is seen as the most corrupted official at court with an appreciation for art and music.
Ren Ping - Zi Tian's loyal bodyguard who scares away many people just by his grim facial expression alone. Seems to never leave the imperial minister's side unless for a secret tryst with his boyfriend Ru Quan, one of the King's Shadows.
Liang Ying - Zi Tian's right-hand woman and proxy. Fought her way to this position by dressing as a man and deceiving everyone until she acquired this rank. Still wears men's clothing nowadays and is a true lady killer.
Lui Yu Lan - Zi Tian's main wife and mother of five-year-old Ang Sau. The daughter and only child of the previous Imperial Minister of Finance, Lui Vi Ngin. A well educated lady who supports her husband in all of his endeavors.
Hua Mei of the Yellowsand Wolves - Zi Tian's second wife and mother of one-year-old Lei Ji. How the daughter and only child of one of the southern nomad clans' chiefs met the Imperial Minister of Finance is unknown. Seems to be uninterested in politics as she restricts her movements to the grounds of the Lui Household, rarely seen by outsiders.
Imperial Ministry of Rites and Ceremonies
Qian Xin - Acting Imperial Minister of Rites and Ceremonies. Possibly the last celestial/magical being that has not left An Empire to seek refuge in the Northern City during the wars of the third emperor and the reign of the fourth emperor. After the sudden death of the previous imperial minister without a successor, Qian Xin has taken on the role temporarily, but rumors say it has always been her plan to solely be in charge of the Imperial Ministry of Rites and Ceremonies.
Xun Hong Zai - A sickly young man who is more often bedridden due to his bad health than able to fulfill his duties as the First Disciple of Rites and Ceremonies and successor of Qian Xin. Is often met with suspicion outside of his quarters, despite him always being ready to serve, as he always wears a thick layer of makeup. Is adored and called "Dada" by the Second Royal Princess Lu Yu.
