Howl waking up after getting his heart back in the book: wakes up still hungover from last night’s drinking spree to a woman he meet before who he thought was pretty now screaming at him like old Sophie (spoiler it is her), while in the background people are screaming and a magic cane is on fire is currently beating the shit out of the Witch of the Waste

(the movie made this flying thing so romantic, but the book version is basically ‘howl and sophie scream into the wind as it slams them back to the castle’)

In which it’s basically Sophie’s fault Howl jilted and got cursed by the witch of the waste.
