There’s a quality that certain books/movies/TV shows have that leads me to say, “Yeah, I can see people making fanfiction of that.” It’s something to do, I think, with how tight the story is, how much feels open-ended or like it could be elaborated on.
Something like Breaking Bad, for example, has low squiggability (that’s what I’m calling this quality). It’s tightly written, the characters are consistent, there’s little left to interpolate or extrapolate. Obviously, people DO write fanfic of Breaking Bad, but it still has a low squiggability score. Whereas something like Supernatural has a high squiggability score. Fantasy and science fiction often have high squiggability scores. This suggests squiggability could also be related to worldbuilding and potential for people to borrow a premise or setting.
And sometimes you’ll read or watch something and you’ll say, “Ah, low squiggability,” and then you’ll open tumblr and find out that everyone else seem to think its squiggability was very high indeed.
I got bored after watching BND and decided to check out the entire MCU in chronological order.
WHO WAS GOING TO TELL ME THAT THERES A ENTIRE YEAR AND A HALF IN BETWEEN THE DEFENDERS AND DAREDEVIL SEASON 3!?!!?
You’re telling me that my poor Foggy thought that his dumbass catholic boyfriend was dead FOR A YEAR AND A HALF!!! (No wonder he was so happy when Matt turned up alive)
YES IT’S GENUINELY HEARTBREAKING!!
“I think about you when I see this character you love” is a form of love language. I hope people think about me when they see my blorbos

If I ask nicely will people reblog and put in the tags what their favorite kids movie is? Can be something you loved as a kid, or something aimed at kids that you watched as an adult and really liked. Please?
EVERYONE get in the tags rn and tell me your favorite cheese
Today is the only day you can reblog this
Not me waiting for all the Punisher as Peter’s parental figure fics waiting to get out after BND. Even better if it’s Fratt.
Spider-Man Brand New Day Thoughts
*disclaimer: I have not seen the movie and I wasn’t really planning on it so I didn’t mind spoilers because I was only looking for one specific thing *cough* *cough* Daredevil *cough* *cough*
But SPOILERS I guess for folks who haven’t seen it!
I know I am probably beating a dead horse here but I just feel like it was SUCH a lost opportunity not to have Daredevil in Spider-Man Brand New Day.
Like Matt would have been the PERFECT ally for Peter the entire movie!
1. The whole thing with Jean Grey: I know it is not stated in the MCU but I am pretty sure in the comics that Matt is highly resistant to telepathy (not completely immune) but still he has a high resistance to mind control so he would have been PERFECT against someone like Jean Grey
2. Peter’s senses: who better to help Peter with his heightened senses than someone who CONSTANTLY has to deal with their heightened senses like c’mon Matt was RIGHT THERE!! It would have been the PERFECT opportunity to establish a mentor/ mentee relationship between the two considering that in the comics they interact a lot with each other and share villains!
3. The Hand is in the movie: Y’all… Daredevil literally has the MOST experience fighting against them! Literally had to deal with them for 2 seasons like WHY was he not in this movie?????? Why is FRANK of all people in there????
Like those are three pretty big reasons alone but I could literally come up with more on why Daredevil should have been in this movie! It was such a lost opportunity!
YES EXACTLY!! The Hand felt kind of random without their main tether as a villain group- almost soulless, but not in the fun way. And yes, DD and Spidey? They would’ve been a match made in heaven for a mentor/mentee duo!
And yes, very selfishly, I wish Matt was in the movie. I am biased, after all. But with all the trailers and DD related things in there? (Punisher, heightened senses, The Hand, even seeing NYC after the Kingpin got ousted again, the DD cameo in No Way Home) It was definitely odd that DD WASN’T in the movie!

Frank said he never had a friend like Peter before because Matt Murdock is actually his boyf- *gunshot*
Maybe I’m just overthinking it but. Possible queer themes coming through with Jean Grey and what happened with her family, as those themes always do with truly ANY X-Men related property
No I absolutely agree, there was so much queer allegory with Jean and her sister. The whole scene about “how could our mother leave us?” “Well what was she supposed to do with kids like us?” “Love us.”
Then later on with Aunt May, “there will be people who try to do terrible things to you because you’re special.” QUEER. ALLEGORY.
This movie was the best kind of propaganda and I absolutely loved it.
YES EXACTLY and the line where they were like “well she loved us until we changed” Hit right in the heart. I wasn’t expecting that from a Spider-Man movie but MAN. Awesome.
Crazy to me that a Punisher & Spider-Man movie came out before a Spider-Man and Daredevil or even Spider-Man and Deadpool? And it WORKED. SO WELL.

Peter Parker Matt Murdock

This movie was so unapologetically New York it was wonderful.
Bad Bunny started playing and my theater started cheering. There’s a halal butcher shop next to a bodega, the kid Peter saved is a wearing a Knicks jersey and there’s a random tourist bus that’s filled with people wearing tacky New York merchandise. My favorite detail is when Empire State turned on its lights to support Spiderman just like how it does in real life with actual events.
The city is alive, vibrant, and in tune with Spider-Man and we see it become its own character rather than just a background setting. Peter finally interacts with the city again as a figure and as a person as well. There’s people who talk to him, who try to help in battles and these are all the moments that make the city a living and breathing home for Peter Parker and Spiderman together.
Tom Holland has such a better Queens accent too and idk but like I’m a New Yorker, and I just looked around in my theater and I saw so many people like me all wearing Spiderman merch who were all able to look on screen and see our home represented perfectly.
Post Spider-Man brand new day thoughts are. Very positive. Good movie. As a DD fan? A bit sad. A bit confused at the use of the hand. A bit disappointed that Frank didn’t mention his lawyer in jail. But ehhhh it’s a spider man movie I get it
