Celebrating Coast Guard Day and a New Dance Season

Today is Coast Guard Day, and Montgomery Ballet is proud to recognize the men and women of the United States Coast Guard for their service to our nation.

We're especially proud of our own Executive Director, Danny Mitsios, who serves in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. The values of leadership, discipline, dedication, and service that define military service are also values that help strengthen Montgomery Ballet's mission every day.

As we celebrate Coast Guard Day, we're also looking forward to welcoming dancers back to the studio for a new season of dance!

For the first time since 1958 – that’s 68 years – Montgomery Ballet owns a building. It used to be a dry cleaner’s on Coliseum Boulevard. Now it’s two studios, a costume shop, and a black box theater so intimate you can hear the dancers breathe.

Tonight and tomorrow at 7:00 PM, we’re opening the doors for free. Not “free with a catch.” Free free.

Friday: The Fairy Doll Ballet (1903, whimsical, technical) + Lights (electronic, dark, luminous)

Saturday: Ocean & Pearls + La Vivandière (virtuosic pas de deux) + Lights

We’ve been nomads since 2022. Lee Wilcoxon, Julie Byrd, the Junior League, Eastbrook Shopping Center – all temporary lifelines. Now? Permanent.
