Results from the #paleostream Ctenorhachis, Hoplitaspis, Sasayamagnomus and Qunkasaura. Context on the Hoplitaspis piece: A new paper suggests that during the late Ordovician a small moon or large asteroid broke up in orbit of earth and formed form some time a ring around the planet. The authors don't go into a details of how large this ring system might have been but me and a few others doubt very much that it was a spectacle like the rings of Saturn. Instead you see here a Hoplitaspis coming onto land to mate and lay eggs, in the process witnessing the faint glow of this Ordovician light show. here the paper btw. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0012821X24004230
