“Give it like two more hours. Let’s go play in the snow then. It's about time we take a break, anyway.” He kisses your cheek and moved down the hall to find where he’d stored away your snow duck maker.

As he did that, you rummage through your kitchen, looking for two thermoses and both you and Jooheon’s favorite hot chocolate mix. Once you locate both, you go to your room, finding Jooheon’s behind up in the air as he shuffled around your crafting bin. 

You give it a small pat as you walk by, heading into the closet to grab your winter coat and gloves, pulling out a large box containing your winter boots. 

“Aha! I got it!” Jooheon held up two matching plastic snow duck shapers, his dimples popping from the smile stretched across his face. You laugh and take them from his hands. 

“I believed in you~ Go ahead and get dressed. I’ll make the Monbebe Cocoa with the marshmallows the closer it gets to snow time.” You tell him, taking your winter boots out and leaving them by the door. 

A red and black thermos sit beside one another on the counter, the scent of cocoa filling the kitchen. Arms wrap around your waist as you add the marshmallows, and Jooheon sniffs lightly. 

“Did you add a vanilla shot?”

“And a bit of caramel.” 

“What would I do without you?” Jooheon laments, holding the cup and sipping eagerly with a dramatic ‘ah’ following soon after. You watch him, holding the thermos in your own hands. 

“Have terrible taste in cocoa?”

He nearly snorts and spills his cocoa, laughing as he wipes his lips, closing the top to his cocoa. 

“You’re trying to kill me, I knew it!” 

You laugh and close your as well, heading to the door with a shine in your eyes as the two of you get ready to head outside. Jooheon opens the door once you finish lacing your boots and the two of you run outside, the chill immediately contrasting the warmth from wince you came. 

You find him disappearing from your side as he plops down on his back, making a large snow angel as you set your thermos on the porch, scooping up some fresh snow in your snow duck maker. 

“Honey, where should I put them?” you look around and Jooheon points to the top of your stone fence. 

With heavy, grandiose footsteps, you march through the snow, taking your duck with you. You pat the top of the snow on the fence, flattening it. Afterwards, you place the first duck on the fence, adjusting it so it wouldn’t fall off when the wind began to blow. 

Jooheon makes his way to you, decorating the area around the ducks with snow carefully. When the two of you step away and admire your creation, you can't help the laugh that comes from your lips. 

“Seven ducks. They look like a kpop group. Should we put some leaves on their heads for hair?” You inquire. Jooheon steps out of your gate and jogs down the street, his boots crunching against the pavement as he grabs a few different leaves from trees dotted along the sidewalk and from branches sticking over your neighbor’s own fences. 

In the distance, you can hear the laughter of children as Jooheon comes back, angling the leaves and small sticks so they look like various hairstyles and hats. 

Stepping back again, the two of you laugh at the sight of your glamorous ducks. 

“Much better.” You give him a kiss of approval before wandering to a different part of the yard, a determined look in your eyes. Jooheon tilted his head as he locked the gate back. 

“Whatcha doin?”

“I wanna make a snowman.” 

Jooheon hums. 

“How many layers?” 

You smile and grab a weakened branch from a tree you had in your yard. 

“Three.” 

Jooheon immediately begins rolling the bottom of your new friend, starting small and waddling around the yard until it steadily got bigger in size. You do the same for the middle, leaving the stick somewhere easy to find as you wait for Jooheon to settle on his size.

He rolls the snowman’s bottom to settle beside your porch, easily viewable from the living room window. You come beside him and place the stick in the middle of the snowman to get some support for the next part of the body. Jooheon lifts the torso with you and slowly pushes it down on the stick, screaming in terror when he saw it break down the middle. 

“Hurry hurry get more snow!” You scream back, though there’s laughter laced into it, making the message almost unintelligible. Jooheon runs and grabs more snow, packing it on thick and smoothing down the areas that had started to crack. You do the same once you’re sure your side is secure and after a few frantic minutes of snow packing and circular motions, the torso is successfully settled on. 

Jooheon takes a sip of his cocoa as you settle the head on the snowman, smiling as you look at your naked snow friend. Jooheon comes back and puts a hand on his hips. 

“He’s got no pants.” 

“He’s a snowman. They usually don’t have pants.” 

“.....Give him a jacket, he’ll get cold.” 

You look at him incredulously and even he can’t keep the faux serious look on his face, laughing in unison with you as you take a break to drink your own cocoa. Jooheon disappears inside to grab some things and you watch as he comes out with some clothes both of you had worn out. 

Your snowman now sat with a smiling face, the smile and nose being made from a plastic banana and carrot respectively, left behind by Jooheon’s niece on one of her overseas visits. The eyes were mis matched halves of a compact mirror you had broken recently, and a rabbit hat with long paws covered the head. 

A knitted sweater with round, bear-like characters decorated on it was wrapped around your snow man’s neck and a small flannel was around his (nonexistent) shoulders. 

You both admire the snowman and you gently nudge him. 

“What are you gonna name him?” You inquire. Jooheon thinks for all of two seconds before smiling. 

“Michael Jackson.” 

The sound of confused laughter echoed through the neighborhood, joining the chorus of other happy voices uplifted all around the town being slowly covered in a blanket of glimmering snow.
