Hiroshi’s eyes hold a spark of joy at Scout’s interest.

“You like dragon-types too?” Affinity they may not be for him, but he does have a soft spot for his little reptilian friends! With a nod and a quick fumbling through the different capsules (thankful Scout didn’t comment further on how many he had), Hiroshi presses a button on one to enlarge it before tossing it up to release the creature inside.

It’s… a Dragonite! Quite a chipper looking one too, as it lands delicately between the two of them and looks to Hiroshi expectantly.

“This is Tsuruno!” His hand pats its arm like one would test the acoustics of a dog, though the Dragonite takes this with pride. “She’s one of my oldest companions! Absolute sweetheart too~ I think she likes you!”

(Sure enough, it’s looking to Scout now with its tail wagging. Scout passes the impromptu vibe check.)

his  eyes  seem  to  light  up  at  the  sight  of  the  dragon  —  because  (  oh,  wow  )  the  dragonite  is  quite  the  majestic  pokemon  to  behold  indeed.  perhaps  there’s  a  bit  of  BIAS  at  play  there,  but  in  all  fairness,  it  certainly  wasn’t  a  species  one  had  the  opportunity  to  see  every  day.

❝  oh,  so  cool!  ❞      scout  practically  bounces  in  place.      ❝  she’s  AMAZING!  i  betcha  take  real  good  care  of  her,  too!  i  can  totally  tell!  ❞      it  was  always  so  interesting  to  meet  people  with  dragon  types  of  their  own  —  especially  those  who  managed  to  reach  the  pinnacle  of  their  species’  strength.  usually,  evolving  them  took  no  SHORTAGE  of  time  and  effort  (  dragon  types  were  tough,  but  needed  a  lot  of  love,  too  )  yet  that  only  made  it  all  the  more  special  when  they  did.  the  mark  of  an  excellent  trainer,  no  doubt.

Immediately underestimating the stranger, Polly listens to their chatter and puts on a professional, polite smile, “I’ve never seen nor heard of a feline dragon type. But maybe someday someone will discover one.”

She might seem a little condescending. She is humoring the blue-haired youth, hoping they’ll get bored with her and choose to wander off soon enough.

❝  oh,  totally!  they  gotta,  now  —  i’m,  like,  SPEAKING  it  into  existence  and  junk,  y’know?  ❞      the  admin  seemed  less  than  perturbed,  smiling  as  he  chattered  away.  being  underestimated  was  good;  no  one  paid  much  mind  to  a  little  buzzing  insect,  right?  (  no  one  cared  enough  to  WATCH  what  they  said,  either  . . .  )

Oh, that’s a lot of questions, and even more enthusiasm. Ree bristles, a little bit, unable to keep up, before they manage a little – holding up a hand, nervous little smile on their face.

“Uh – thanks. I cut it myself. Haven’t thought of dyeing it, no. Uh – I guess we have some kool aid powder that i could use but it seems like a hassle – huh? aesthetic? that’s – no, I’m not playing up an aesthetic, I’m just like this.”

They’re playing up the aesthetic a little bit.

he  shuts  his  mouth  when  they  raise  their  hand  —  just  for  a  little  bit.  (  scout  might  be  many  things,  but  he  isn’t  a  boundary  crossing  JERK.  )  instead  he  nods  along,  the  gesture  oddly  reminiscent  of  an  overly  enthusiastic  bobblehead.  it’s  only  when  they  seem  to  be  finished  speaking  that  he  takes  his  turn  to  blurt,      ❝  wow,  not  an  aesthetic?  so  you’re,  like,  a  true  blue  rebel  type!  suuuper  cool,  i  respect  that  TONS!  ❞

the  admin  curls  a  lock  of  powder  blue  hair  around  one  finger.      ❝  i,  like,  baaasically  do  nothing.  i  thought  it’d  be  neat  to  try  and  dye  it  pink  like  HYDREIGON  —  but  most  people  don’t  really  get  it  get  it,  y’know?  sucks!  ❞      as  an  afterthought,  he  adds,      ❝  maybe  i’ll  do  it  with  pink  lemonade  next  time.  hey  hey,  does  kool  aid  powder  hair  dye  make  you  smell  like  kool  aid  or  whatever?  ❞
