Other than one writing decision that felt odd (ramble under the cut), I really enjoyed 2.8! It has me looking forward to wherever we go next in the story!

It was really odd to me that they brought Angert back from the dead. The entire 2.0 story has emphasized that there is a cycle of life and death that shouldn’t be disturbed. The main antagonists are the ones who purposefully try to speed it up (Medael) or stop it entirely (Mothis, Asna), so why is Anger suddenly allowed to have his soul plucked from the stream and put back in his body. What makes him more important than any other characters affected by disruption of the cycle?

I ended up liking his character and role in the story by the end, but I really wish they had committed to his death instead of bringing him back. Maybe it’s a response to people being so upset that Giovanni isn’t available anywhere on the map and they were concerned that permanently killing him would upset people who wanted to take photos with him? Or maybe they just didn’t really think about how it would not fit the story they had been setting up? No real way to know, I guess

I love how Meghill-Angert reunion is spiritually Columbina-Sandrone reunion but yaoi instead of yuri
