Escaping to Solace

The first line of Imam Ali (as)’s first sermon in Nahjul Balagha is so beautiful.

When I lost Ali ibn Abi Talib, I lost the secrets of Allah on earth.

“It’s the feeling of being wanted. The idea that someone wants to hold you and hear about your day, the thought that someone cares about you for who you are. That’s the best feeling, knowing that someone wants you in every way.”

“My only relief is to sleep. When I’m sleeping, I’m not sad, I’m not angry, I’m not lonely, I’m nothing.”

Comparison is an act of violence against the self.

Give a copy of Qur’an to someone. Each time one reads from it, you gain.

Nothing hurts the heart more than sins.

Tell people about your religion without the use of your tongue.

Ask me, before you lose me! I am more aware of the paths of the heavens than the paths of the earth.
