I think a lot of people aren’t selfish enough. And I don’t mean the “bad selfish” like being greedy, entitled, lacking compassion for others, using people etc I mean the good selfish… where you prioritize your well being, your peace, your future instead of constantly pouring from an empty cup

Most of us were taught that selflessness is the highest virtue, that putting others before ourselves is what makes us “good.” Then there’s the manipulative tactics from others that come with it, making matters worse emotionally and physically for you. You can’t show up for anyone else if you’re drained or living a life that doesn’t feel like your own

Good selfishness means you say no to things that drain your energy even if others don’t understand or get upset. It means choosing your HEALTH over convenience. It means walking AWAY from relationships that disrespect your worth. Protecting your time like the precious resource it is… because IT IS. Investing in your growth, even if others call it indulgent (the better you get, the more you can pour into and inspire others)

When you practice this kind of selfishness, you actually become more generous because you’re giving from a place of fullness. You’re modeling what it means to honor yourself & that gives others permission to do the same. If it’s one thing I’ve seen across the board that affects people the most, it’s not the lack of, or the support, it’s that they are simply unaware that certain realities and things can exist aside from their own (no fault to them of course)
