I may clean this up and color it later, but I thought I'd post it as early as possible to be safe. :D
Anyways. I know elves in different media have different lifespans. Some are seen as 'immortal' while others just have greatly lengthened lifespans compared to other fantasy races. But I think it would do very interesting things to Hong Lu if he was born as a character that could not die due to old age. I don't think Limbus Hong Lu would enjoy that kind of life. It would be interesting to character study an elf Hong Lu, hehe.
I'd imagine this Hong Lu's magic is psychic based, with a focus on controlling/manipulating enemies minds and actions over doing damage. Hong Lu's pact is a secret, but his patron is a mix of both the elders and the birds. Imagine a weird uncanny bird monster with many eyes with multiple conscious entities residing in the same body. They ask for entertainment by watching the world through one of his eyes. Hong Lu also seems to be able to communicate with them through his reflection.
Anyways, this silly D&D Hong Lu comes from a few different things. First, I ran a heavily modded Baldur's Gate game with Hong Lu. It was very fun and whimsical and I learned that faerie fire is actually very silly. Then, I made a little au where the LCB is a small adventurers guild in a D&D setting. They split up and do different quests.
I think is would be so goofy if there is a pokemon au Hong Lu where this man just proclaims himself as the professor of stones. He just tries to study the way stones can change a pokemon's form or give them power. I don't know how great of a professor he would be, but I think Hong Lu would be quite whimsical.
Hong Lu's dual partners would be the two dawn stone evolutions. Gallade and Froslass. :3 Dawn stones are roughly the color of jades and their in game descriptions describe them as looking like eyes. He could also mega evolve both of them if he wanted which is pretty neat. I personally like to associate Munna/Musharna with Hong Lu due to the association with dreams and sleeping.
Do you think having a mega stone as a prosthetic eye could cause damage to your face? Or maybe offer migraines if you use it too much? Embedding mega stones in your body doesn't sound like the best idea, pfft. (My first doodles of this Hong Lu au actually had him with glasses because I was overthinking if consistently using a magical evolution stone so close to his other eye could cause vision damage eventually. I think he's going for style points frfr)

At first I wanted to just draw Hong Lu with Yi Sang ship art. Or possibly then interacting in their base EGO outfits. Instead, I let myself take inspiration from Bygone Days.
I personally like the contrast of the black and white with the colored glass wings. Though, the black and white almost makes it look more like Solemn Lament instead of Bygone days pfft.
It has been so long since I have drawn Yi Sang, so it was nice trying to figure out how he works in my style again. I draw so much Hong Lu and Kromer in my notebook while there is a noticeable lack of other Sinners. June of Jade will be a fun exercise on drawing literally any other character except for Hong Lu. 😭😭 /Lh
I am still getting likes on my Hong Lu and Yi Sang artwork from last year, so I hope you guys like this as well! I love their interactions in the game. And maybe if people want HongSang art I can provide more after June of Jade is done. Hehe.

Chat, I started a new Pokemon Scarlet playthrough that I could play in character as Kromer cuz I'm planning on doing that for Pokemon Z-A and I need to be entertained until then.
I just got done with the tutorial two hours ago and I've just been training pokemon before trying to get any badges. In the span of an hour and a half Kromer has managed to find 3 shinies.
How???
I have zero badges. I've done nothing.
Anyways wondering if I should do Kitakami before any badges. Should I go with a shiny-only pokemon run?
I have zero clue what to do now, I was supposed to be playing this in-character to get a better grasp of Kromer's pokemon preferences. And I guess her preferences are shinies??? /J
Back in April I had gotten so excited for the upcoming Canto 8 that I did a few crossover doodles of Hong Lu with Nightcord. I realized I never shared them, pfft.
Even after Canto 8, I feel like there's been an odd parallel between Hong Lu and Mafuyu that is a bit hard to explain. They both cracked under pressure in different ways-- both of them remained puppets for adults who wished to use these children to further their dreams. (That isn't worded eloquently but shhhh)
A while ago on my Limbus Company Swap Kromer ask blog someone turned her into an Uma.
It occurred to me that I never dropped her design, pfft.
Say hello to Grip Gold (not related to the Stay Gold bloodline)
A few notes on the design and Grip Gold lore below
Her weaknesses are listed as strong flavors and large bodies of water. If her feet can touch the bottom she will willingly enter, otherwise she may be quite stubborn.
Her ears react dramatically to whatever emotion she is feeling at the time. They are also quite tall.
When she runs, the gold in her tail will catch light and glimmer. A lot of the gold details in her outfit are modeled after doing the same thing.
She wags her tail quite a bit, sometimes without a clear reason.
The red ribbons on her outfit are a warning of her tendency to kick.
Grip Gold's top priority when asked is that she wants fans. Humans interest her, their reactions and envy interests her. Grip Gold loves doing fan interactions, and the main reason she races is to be thrust further into the spotlight of doing performances/meeting new people.
Even though Grip Gold says that her priority is just getting fans, the expectations put onto her by both her name and her peers have created a sort of complex where she has to be first place. Grip Gold gets extremely shaken if she loses even once, and she will become a more volatile uma as a result.
Grip Gold is a sore loser but she doesn't realize it. She's unable to hide how upset she is via her ears and she can also get a bit irritable.
She has no confirmed trainer, but in the recent stages of planning I've been using Hermann as a placeholder. If Hermann is Grip Gold's trainer then it likely makes the perfectionism problem much worse.
Grip Gold's unique skill animation is as follows: You see Grip Gold walking in a black void, it's silent and tranquil. You can see the outline of tall humanoid shadows watching her, and as Grip Gold gathers her courage to keep walking her footsteps start leaving trails of gold. The uma's pace quickens and she reaches her arms out to brush the shadows only to turn them gold as well. Eventually, the black void is gone and replaced with a gold expanse.
Grip Gold's armor can make a somewhat unsettling noise when she is reaching close to max speeds on the final straight which she likely uses to her advantage to intimidate other runners. Though, she's made sure everything is race legal.
Her dorm roommate is this Mirror World's version of Sinclair.

This is one of those sketches I did back in April while planning June of Jade. While I draw I typically listen to random YouTube documentaries about true crime or high profile accidents, and today while I was drawing over with my pen I somehow remembered exactly what video I was watching when I originally drew this. That happens sometimes.
