Finally finished the last Star Wars movie today (here, there be spoilers). I am not a big fan, just a casual one. I 100% enjoy the last three (four? Does Rogue One count?) more than any others. (I’ve not watched the prequels. Everyone told me to pretend they don’t exist.)
To me, the originals were pretty thin on story and two of them really ended up being the same movie, blowing up big ships at the end. Of course, I watched them right before episode 7 so I had no nostalgia to go on.
I like Rey, *love* Finn and Po (Poe?), and Rose, and old Leia. In one of the recent movies, I found the part with Finn and Rose to be my favorite. But in this one, I got the feeling that Finn was going to tell Rey he loved her. (And maybe Po would be jealous because he’s into Finn? I could see Po being bi.) Anyway, I yelled out, “Noooooooooooooo!” When Ben and Rey kissed, cuz I felt like there was no reason for it. It was very weird and gross and also I will never in a million years understand why people find Adam Driver attractive (so that could have been part of it, but still). So then Rey makes it back and is reunited with Finn & Po (co-generals!), and they all hug like they’re all just friends.
And Rey introduces herself to some stranger on a desert planet as Rey Skywalker, and I don’t get it. I mean, sure Rey Palpatine probably isn’t a good look. But if she’s just like, the “spiritual, Jedi-daughter” of Luke and Leia, which is weird since they’re brother and sister, fine. But all of this is so weird. Is this a last name that just gets passed from Jedi to Jedi? I mean. Now it is.
I just want Rey and Finn (and maybe Po? I don’t know their life) to have a good life training new Jedi and living on a farm or something. I do not need anymore Star Wars movies.
