I’m back onto my Redwall shenanigans and I needed to draw what Sayna may have looked like. ( I don’t recall too much of a description for her so this is my initial draft)

I would LOVE to see your take on the characters from the book series Redwall! I love the monastic animals you draw!! They remind me of that series and it was (and still is) one of my favorite pieces of fantasy literature.
This picture wasn't of a specific Redwall mouse but definitely inspired by them, plus a rat ally because like I keep mentioning my biggest complaint about the series was not enough nice rats and weasels. I've got my hands full enough drawing my own little critter monks but who knows maybe I'll be inspired (or commissioned) to draw a canon Redwall character at some point.

dude the author died 15 years ago and we are still talking about Redwall
All I've ever wanted since I was a wee dibbun was a complete map of the world of Redwall. So I made one :D
I took photos of all of the maps at the start of every book, photoshopped them into their approximate sizes and positions. Then filled in any blanks in the map by making it look more or less like fantasy England. And then skimmed through every book making sure I missed as few details as possible.
Once it was all done I had it printed onto some fabric and made a wall hanging :D
This took FOREVER. I started the project years ago and eventually got around to finishing it like, a month ago? Anyway I am very pleased with the outcome.

Canon Fact: The name "Cluny" is a legend and a boogeyman. Before his arrival none of the Abbey mice believed that he was real
Conjecture: Vermin are generally expected to change their names upon adulthood (I just can't imagine moms are going around naming their children things like Frogblood and Mangefur)
Now consider the idea that the name "Cluny" predates Cluny the Scourge- upon reaching a point of sufficient success in his warlord career, he changed his name to match this legend in order to take advantage of this reputation
Ooh I love this, it makes so much sense! That's so something Cluny would do and it adds to the worldbuilding in such a fun way!
I absolutely agree about the vermin name change tradition too, especially because a few canon villains like Slagar and Urgan Nagru re-named themselves. And then tons of other vermin have names based on a defining trait that wouldn't emerge until later in life, eg. Ashleg wasn't born with a wooden leg (even if it's a congenital limb difference, he wouldn't get a prosthesis until he could walk).
I've always thought that the "descriptive yet unflattering" names like Splitnose and Ashleg were nicknames.
New headcanon: Vermin that reach the age of majority rename themselves, and deadnaming someone using their child name is either bad luck or an excellent way to start a fight

I feel like Constance from redwall would get along great with Sister Evangelina from call the midwife. Both tough as nails women dealing wth kids and livin n a house of god.
OH MY GOD. This is specific but so correct and I’ve been saying for the longest time that if we get a Redwall show or movie that I want Pam Ferris to voice Constance and I feel so validated right now
