I always thought this parallel worked ten times better if you consider this one too:
As the real “beginning” for them. Especially because it highlights Kurogane’s change better, and how his development also helped Fay along. The first time he confronts Fay this way, he’s being aggressive and rough, and he’s met with nothing but a fake smile.
The second time, look at how huge the change in his body language is, on top of his actual language. He’s no longer looming and imposing on Fay, he’s sitting down while he’s standing up, he’s waiting and even his speaking is less aggressive. It’s far more gentle, even if it’s still Kurogane being Kurogane - so he’s not condescending, he’s not overly “nice”. And we all know how this time Fay does respond to it - from a mix of /both/ their developments through the journey as well as their own bond, this time he drops the smile, he admits his fears, he opens up, however briefly.
Then the third time ONCE IT’S ALL SORT OF OVER, or at least Fay’s and Kuro’s arcs are mostly closed, we get another very similar one. And it leads not to a fake smile, but a genuine one, from both of them.
… I kinda lost my point by now, I just wanna go HUSBANDS!1!1 a whole lot. THEY’RE GREAT OKAY.
I keep thinking KuroFai fans and the fandom can’t keep adding to FEELS, but lol who am I kidding //lies on floor and sobs
