Last week I had an elderly white woman tell me at my job "you give pretty good service for a spic". When I told my manager, his response was: "nice". When I stared in shock and asked if he had heard me correctly, he said "maybe she was just joshing around like you guys do". And as much as that pissed me off, it still didnt hurt nearly as much as several of my white friends telling me "but you dont even look that hispanic!" Or "youre not even mexican though right?" As if being central american, or white passing made the slur any less offensive. I am biracial, and my family on my dads side is so white im literally related to robert e lee. Hes my great great etc etc uncle. But that doesnt mean I dont get treated as a minority by shitty white people, and it invalidates my experience when people inply that because im sometimes white passing I am not the target of racism. Ugh white people. Quit that job though
