christenpress I spent birthdays 0-30 by my mothers side. 30 was a difficult one, as my mom was sick and dying of brain cancer. However, a year ago today she gave me one of her final physical gifts. Without the ability to walk or talk, she threw me a beautiful 30th birthday and braved facing many people that she certainly did not want to see in that moment. This was one of the last of many sacrifices she made for me throughout her life, and one that I cherish, especially today.

I will still spend today with my mom. And I celebrate her with my joy and love and bravery.
