Modreal Official Blog

Modreal Fashion was incubated during Summer 2013 by a Toronto based Incubator & Business Accelerator: INcubes. We had the pleasure of meeting some exciting entrepreneurs and venture capitalists that helped us redefine our vision and approach to market.

We had to move over Toronto for 3 months, and let us say that our product has been completely redesigned to be appropriate to today’s reality. In fact, when we first stepped into INcubes offices, we were building a web responsive app. Today, we have pivoted into an iOS & Android mobile application with a web app that will be accessible for fashion brands, designers and retailers.

Following to INcubes graduation, we moved back in Montreal & Visited our good friends Ovidiu and Hamed from Outpost.travel, that recently raised a Seed round for their startup. While we visited them in their old port offices, paid by one of their investor, I had the pleasure of meeting with him. I pitched the idea behind Modreal and showed him what we been working on. He simply loved it & wanted to help us in anyway possible.

Today we are working from the best offices that you could wish for as a startup. The old port is a great area to take some inspirational walks, however very expensive to eat & drink.

We are in the process of brining some new talent to the team. We been interviewing for the past weeks, and had over 40 applicants. We are looking for a talented iOS designer & developer that could add his skills to the table & make Modreal Fashion, a successful Canadian startup.

We also have applied to be part of the next Founder Fuel Cohort that will take place from February to May 2014. We have our fingers crossed and hope that we could be part of this big journey. Even though we been part of another accelerator, we believe that we will gain a lot from this opportunity.

The user-facing product idea has improved a lot as well. We now have a clear understanding of what our users would be in love with, and what our customers will be willing to retrieve from our customer-facing product. We had the opportunity to validate it with a focus group during the Startup Festival 2013, and we had some outstanding feedback from the community.
