    A wide, genuine smile blossomed onto the princess’ face at Kagome’s comment. It meant a great deal knowing that, at the very least, there was at least one person in her corner who supported her career choice. Her heart felt warm, though whether that was from the tea or the praise was up for debate. Kagome was truly a priceless friend.

    “Why thank you! That means a lot to me, sakura blossom,” she stated, propping her elbows on the table. Delicate legs swung back and forth in her seat, restless and attempting to exert excess energy. There were a lot of questions racing around in her mind; it had been so long since the two girls had talked this much! One at a time, one at a time.

    “I’m glad your professors are being kind about the situation. If not, feel free to give me a call! I’ll happily put them in their place for you,” she giggled, taking one of the mochi pieces from the table. Green tea flavored, one of her favorites. Larkspur took a generous bite, savoring the sweet taste of the dessert. Ja’mi was a culinary master!

   “What about your own work? Are you enjoying the S.S.A. environment? Oh, try the sweets. They’re heavenly!”

    Kagome smiled brightly at Larkspurs reply. Hanging with her reminded her a lot of her times with Sango, she was like the sister she always wanted but never had. She was so grateful to have met her. “You don’t have to thank me, it’s what friends do! Support each other through anything and everything!”

    She couldn’t help but giggle at her comment on putting her professors in their place. She knew she was probably serious about it too maybe, that or she’d probably tell Inuyasha in passing and Inuyasha would probably go threaten the professors or something and that was not a sight she wanted to see, even if she was always so thankful to have friends that cared that much about her. 

    “College Professors here are a lot more understanding with things, I think being part of the S.S.A really helps me on that too so I don’t think I’ll ever have any issues with them, hopefully.” She laughed a little nervously as she reached out with her bandaged hand to take one of the mochi’s, hoping that she wouldn’t say anything about her hand.

Sesshomaru’s chest vibrated with a repressed growl. He didn’t want to startle the already scared precious creature in his arms. Her presence alone is what kept him rooted to his spot on the sidewalk and doing exactly what she asked him not to do. 

Though, as he took a reassuring whiff of her scent, his nose wrinkled as he did not pick up the scent of the one who had attacked her. Not that he expected to. From what he had learned there was not much to go off of looking for the killer. Where he could track Naraku by scent or by rumors of his flexing power, there was nothing to lead him in his search. 

He tucked his head and pressed his lips to her forehead with promise. “I will not. Do you need medical attention?” He asked softly, his underlying tone still strained and hard with frustration. Sesshomaru brushed a hand over her temple as well, trying to clear her face of hair in an attempt to make sure she would not try to downplay her injury. 

    As his lips pressed against her forehead, she closed her eyes for a moment, a small smile spreading on her lips. If she hadn’t just been attacked by a crazed serial killer, she would have let herself get lost in this moment with the demon lord. Since finally accepting her feelings for Sesshomaru and finding out that they were fated to each other, he had began treating her to small signs of affection like this and it always made her melt. It was a side of him only she got to see.

    But she couldn’t let her defense fall right now, even with him here. Even if the psychopath was long gone, they could still be in danger, or he could be hiding somewhere unbeknownst to them.
