Black Both Blessing and BeautifulÂ
As the journey of life began with stories and studies of the the past and African history, continually my mind and thoughts linger around the pain, the tears, the stripes on the backs of great men and woman just like me, the ever tormenting scars on the body of my father and the fact that it can never be erased just like the memories that haven't. The fact that we were slaves, the fact that tears run down our cheeks every hour of the day, the fact that our loved ones where taken from us forcefully, the fact that we were maltreated and set aback even after everything, the fact that, wait! oh my gosh! guess what ?
we got through it, we got through the struggle and the pains for it have only made us better, now i remember not the stories and studies but the teaching of my mother on the way to go, the advice of how to live my life as a growing child and into the unknown future.i begin to cost my mind aback to the wonderful moments of my brothers and sisters stepping up to protect me even if we were not related by blood. The way we celebrate and dance until the sun disappears from the sky and the moon show forth its lovely face. the stories of grand ma and pa under the night fire built my morals and attitude towards strangers and the worlds unknown. The enormous strength, agility and dead set against fatigue of hunters, farmers fisher men and warriors of clan/kinsmen. The continuous stories of victory and success of our brothers and sisters across boundaries of the world.
Then what are these lies that we hear about being inferior when we make an open show of them in their own land, how we accept them and show love and care to their young and marry their sisters. Oh! what a culture we have that is inculcated into our blood, gene and color. We are so strong that we can survive any climate or atmospheric condition, our women can deliver their young like it's no man's business. Our men are freedom fighters who when pushed to the wall bounce back again like it's no woman's business funny isn't it?.
Our wealth of adaptation and knowledge makes us gods in lands where we find ourselves. we are black and we are proud. We are brothers for real, we were meant to be, we were meant to survive, we were built for the future and we are the future. It is a blessing to be a part of a strong heritage. When i look at what we have overcome as a people, and even in my own family, I am reminded of the strength that my ancestors have walked in before me. i will remind my children of their heritage to realize that no matter what they face, they come from a lineage of over-comers. The African Diaspora is beautiful. The harmony of colors found in a people group. The collective community. The pride of surviving hate crimes against our skin with love. we are a grateful people who have learned that weapons drawn against you can be a witness of grace for future generations. Black!, Beautiful And Blessing!!
