Almost midnight… What a subjective way to phrase things. Time always seemed to fly just as much as Cyborg did, so much so that ‘almost’ could be anything less than a half an hour! And despite their chase, the glance at the time got their only possibly existing stomach to growl. Had it already been that long since they had ice cream going through their system? It was with a sigh that Borg had the momentary thought of ditching the place for ice cream, which had to trail itself back as to why they were looping around this location in the first place. Wait- Loop? How many times had they flown past the clock in chase of the thief?
Sure, the path was clear to take and there was nothing to lose- not even time- by jumping upon the clock hands to get a good observation on what’s around- not that the half-bot needed the leverage considering they could just fly… But the number of times the thief seemed to check back here after darting off to somewhere else was ridiculous! What, did they need to come and reset their own clock or something? Psh, how pathetic! Cyborg found themself chuckling for a moment, watching the thief from above as they scanned the area once again before heading somewhere else. If they were as predictable as they seemed, then just adjusting or, something more entertaining for Borg’s thoughts, breaking the clock would bode to be something useful!
If something wasn’t as it should be, it certainly caused something different! And if this thief was so dead-set in their ways, maybe they could cause a crisis in the other! Or… anything that wasn’t that stolid, scary face that caused a shiver through their circuits as the criminal tried to figure out why things were wrong!
It was with a hearty laugh that Cyborg lifted their blaster, though… Once again, they hesitated. It was irrational, yes, but what if- what if there was someone inside? What if someone jumped in front of their shot? Vivid visions of the charred flesh came across their mind, rattling their metallic coating until they let their blaster naturally discharge, light fading from it. Oh, deity of icy creams… This was going to be something they weren’t getting over any time soon.
Instead, the partially metallic being made the split-second decision to just… ram into the clock! They let their blaster boots light up in a flash, blazing forward and crashing through the glass the clocktower held, along with bending the clock hands into something unrecognizable. It wasn’t easy to stop, but thankfully this clocktower had clocks on all four sides, allowing them to go straight through, messing two of four ends easily!
It was dizzying, especially once they forced themself to stop in the air. Augh… They had the worst headache from that! “This better be worth my time!” They snipped at the quiet, cold air around them… Before quickly turning the look of mild scorn on their face into a grin. “Hehe… Ahaha!! Puns!! I didn’t know I could make those!!” Maybe if they crashed through the other side, they could make more of those jokes!
“Hour you doing, clocky? Haha, too late, you’re out of time!!”
…Yes, they could make more of those jokes.
Through their session of giggling, their goal was once again almost lost on them. Their reminder was made through a yelp they heard on the same side they always saw the thief standing upon. Aha! So they were as predictable as expected! It seems like their head wasn’t as empty as they expected, after all!
With a small burst of speed, Cyborg quickly took a look to examine what they had caused… and maybe to make sure there weren’t any actual injuries. Thankfully, the only thing wrong with the thief was the painting they had supposedly stolen being torn through thanks to their head making a mess of a hole through it! The procurer of stolen items seemed more than dazed at what had just happened, though thankfully that gave the half-bot more than enough time to swoop down keep the thief held to the ground by the throat.
…With their mitten. It wasn’t that harsh of a squeeze, somewhat out of fear and somewhat out of the fact their mitten seemed to have some squishier material under it (what it was, they never asked, not even now).
“Well, well, well! It looks like you’ve been caught, thiefy-wiefy! Now be like a clock and put those hands up!”
And thus the clock chimed for midnight.
