There’s this assumption in the fandom that if you remove the Izumo tech, Narumi immediately drops below Hoshina. Canon doesn’t really support that.

Narumi’s baseline matters.

He graduated with perfect scores, including physical training, and ranked at the top of the JAKDF physical exam. That already places him well above the average Defense Force standard before equipment enters the picture. On top of that, his body tolerates prolonged high output without overheating — something we know Hoshina struggles with even in-suit. That’s not just a suit problem; it’s a physiological limit.

Narumi also demonstrated abnormal compatibility early on by using unadjusted uni-organs as a teenager. That doesn’t make him invincible, but it does establish a body capable of handling extreme strain without collapsing.

Hoshina, on the other hand, is a specialist.

His strength isn’t endurance or raw output, but precision. He’s faster in close quarters, technically cleaner, and trained explicitly for scenarios where technology fails. In a pure skill-based exchange, Hoshina has the advantage. He capitalizes on mistakes and ends fights quickly.

So the distinction isn’t “who is stronger” in a simple sense.

Hoshina has:

Narumi is physically stronger even without tech.

Hoshina is still the more dangerous combatant.

Honestly, both men are beasts.

Like—he looks lazy as hell, always acting bored, like he’d rather be anywhere else. But the second something actually matters? Boom. He’s locked in, sharp, and terrifyingly good at what he does. Total predator switch.

He doesn’t listen to orders unless he feels like it either. You can tell him what to do, sure—but whether he does it or not is another story. Very ‘I acknowledge your existence, not your authority’ energy.

And even when he seems checked out, he’s watching everything. Just standing there, quiet, eyes half-lidded, but missing absolutely nothing. That’s pure cat behavior.

He also knows he’s better than most people and doesn’t bother hiding it. Smug, teasing, low-effort confidence. Like a cat knocking something off a table while maintaining eye contact.
