AN: It’s a day late and way longer than I intended but it’s done! I bet you’re wondering how I managed to use this prompt for a human au…well I’ve trying something a bit experimental and I really hope it worked out alright. That’s all I can really say lol
Chapter 6: Semi-Honest Conversations
Patton, Roman, and Virgil all entered the local tavern. The place was pretty busy it seemed, which made sense for the time of night it was. It seemed like the evening was in full swing with boisterous laughing and voices.
Roman boomed, “Seems like easy pickings for tips tonight!”
“If you can carry a tune, maybe,” Virgil retorted.
“That was one time and I told you I hadn’t warmed up that day,” he gasped.
“I-I’m sure you’ll do great tonight,” Patton tried to encourage.
“Let’s just find a table, I’m starving.”
Patton climbed into the chair at their table near the fireplace. He tried to keep an eye on Roman as he made his way over to the barkeep to get their drinks. Virgil had put his hood up and crossed his arms, he always hated these kinds of places.
“Don’t worry Vee, we’ll find us some work and then we won’t have to worry about all these noisy places.”
“There’s someone watching us,” his voice came out of the shadow of his cloak, “in the back corner. I can’t tell if its good or not.”
He tried to look over his shoulder subtly, but when he did he saw the person Virgil was talking about staring straight at him. It was like he wasn’t even trying to hide it!
He quickly turned back around, “That’s kind of weird…”
