Hack days are when our team gets to step away from the regular roadmap and work on whatever ideas they so desire. Here's a taste of what came out of it:

Advanced Search

We added advanced search operators in a previous Hack Day. This time, @lesianlen added an exclusion operator to exclude posts that contain a specific word, phrase, or tag. @ex and @blowery helped out to add a spiffy modal that shows exactly how you can use all available advanced search operators.

Search in Communities

Speaking of search, @lesianlen also worked on adding search within individual Communities to find posts and conversations.

"Latest Comments" Community feed

@jubs and @lesianlen worked on creating a tab within individual communities that bumps a post to the top when someone adds a comment. Easily find posts where conversation is hot!

Nudge to Add Moderators

When your community is growing, you need more people to help run it. @jubs worked on a reminder that suggests just that. 

iOS Home Screen Widgets 

Ben worked on widgets with quick actions and Radar, making Tumblr even more accessible on your home screen.

iOS Shortcuts and Siri Support

@kostastsi4 explored making Tumblr play more nicely with your iPhone: showing quick links in Spotlight to jump straight to your Dashboard, Messages, Activity, or your blog. He also began adding support for Siri and Shortcuts to open specific tabs, start a new post, or search for exactly what you want.

Suggest Tags Based on Post Content

Tumblr runs on tags. However, picking the right tags for your post can be difficult unless you're a Tumblr expert. Our current tag suggestions are a combination of tags you follow, tags you've used before, and some trending tags. @arandomblog31 worked on suggesting better tags based on the post you're writing.

Reblog Explorer

Ever wondered how a post spread across Tumblr? @blowery built a full-screen version of the reblog graph view that lets you explore how a post traveled. Click through the graph to see the full reblog trail update in real-time explore different branches. There's even keyboard navigation — press the up arrow repeatedly to follow the most popular reblog path through the entire graph, or walk backwards toward the original post to see what tags people added along the way.

@elt began exploring what it would take to eliminate the limitations of secondary blogs.

Reminder/Notice:

Tumblr does not use outlook.com as their email provider.

Tumblr will e-mail you from their own email that ends in tumblr.com if there are ever issues with your account for whatever reason.

Staff will never tell someone to message you, to then tell you to message them, staff, via an email, discord, or via some other method.

Staff will not do this. Ever.

Here are two examples of Tumblr's official emails.

If your account was reported, you will always get a email from Tumblr on the account you're linked to. They will not just ban, suspend, terminate, ect you, without letting you know. Anyone saying otherwise is lying to you. It's all in your email unless you turned notifications off. Check your junkmail if you didn't get anything.

If there's issues, or you report an account, you'll get emails from [email protected]. Example:

When you get an email saying you have an ask or a message, or you're signed up for their newsletter, you get a email from [email protected].

This is from tumblr dot com the website.

That is how you know it's real.

Again, Tumblr does not use outlook, gmail, hotmail, discord, or anything else. If you get a ask, message, or anything telling you to contact 'staff' at an address/website/platform, that is 100% a scam.

It is true that in some, although extremely few, cases your account might get caught by the automated spam controls and your blog is suspended without being notified. This is simply because, as you might imagine, we don't want to always be notifying the same people behind the spam bots and posts that we've detected and suspended their accounts. It let's them figure things out and change their tactics up. We don't want to always tip our hand. Users might get caught unfortunately by this in some cases but we never warn you about this.

But in every way outside of this, we try to notify you if your blog is ever terminated.

You can however always appeal it if that happens, those are always reviewed by us. The only way to do that is to go tumblr.com/support and select the "Terminated Account" option.

However, there is never any way where being mass reported for spam or any other violation ever lead to an automated termination. 5000 people could report a blog for whatever reason, even as spam, and it won't get terminated. We are not unaware that mass reports do happen and malicious ones are always handled as such.

But to reiterate the OP, just about everything remains true. We'll never ask you to contact us in any other way than via https://tumblr.com/support or https://tumblr.com/abuse to either report issues or content respectively.
