little alternate storyline one-shot scene for 8x09. Hailey slips on a patch of ice while running after Cooper and Damari, landing her with a pretty painful injury and a hot looking nurse to wait on her hand and foot while she recovers. [team is already aware of upstead at this point.]

“Hailey,” he whispers. He’s said her name what feels like a thousand times today, but none has made her have to reach out to touch him immediately as much as this one.

She runs her hands up and down his back, over memorized muscles that have kept her safe on long days, kept her warm over long nights. When his gaze falls on her, heavy-lidded, she knows he’s right.

They can do this. They can figure this out.
