something (okay, it was @foreverrhapsody commenting on my fic on ao3) told me to check, and yep, i quit tumblr TEN YEARS AGO back in december. so in honor of a full decade, i wanted to pop back in here and just drop an update to anyone who may still be here.
i left this site second year of residency. obviously, i've since finished training and am now practicing as an attending emergency medicine physician. i moved back to my hometown in new jersey after residency and now work at two of the local hospitals. a year and a half ago, after renting a townhouse for several years, i bought a four-bedroom raised ranch just down the street from where i grew up. in short, i'm now working my dream job and now own my dream home!
i lost my dear beloved guinea pig obi-wan to old age. then i had two wonderful girl pigs, hillary and mallory, who have also since passed on. now i have a sweet little boy pig named arthas.
i still go to new york comic con every year in full cosplay. i still occasionally post fic on ao3. (by which i mean every two to three years, i yeet a fic into a truly random fandom and then dip.) i still love all the same sci fi and fantasy and comics and video games and anime and etc as i did ten years ago. every once in a while i entertain coming back, but then i remember how much nicer it is to just enjoy my media privately in peace than wade through hip-deep "discourse" in the name of fandom. i started in internet fandom at twelve. i'll be forty this year, and i'm just way too tired for it.
oh, but i do still hate disney star wars. nice to see i was vindicated in my hatred of the sequel movies.
so that's been the last ten years. holy shit, that seems like it should be such a long time but it really feels like no time at all. maybe i'll stop by again in another decade.
