first date. baby trapped. episode about finding eddie a woman, and instead ends with buck in a messy threesome which he decides he doesn’t want because he wants ONE person.

the whole episode is themed around secrets, given the title. so there’s hen and her illness, the chastity belt couple in the beginning, the secret of bucks dates being married.

and a secret baby! a child being the thing that brings these two essentially strangers together!! in a super fucking queer episode about both buck and eddie struggling in forming the kinds of relationships they want!!

i think it serves as a very important reminder that you can in fact be a gay man and have loved a woman. it’s possible! we’ve seen it!

For Eddie to make the conscious decision to get Buck a necklace that, in a way, matches his own. A necklace that Shannon gifted him, a necklace that has tied him to his life and to his child.

It would be a very obvious and direct parallel, but also this little thing connecting Eddie and Buck—both connected to their sons by chains around their necks. It’s even more beautiful when you consider the whole patron saints of soldiers/travelers of it all.

Except of course Eddie would be confused. Firstly, he has never had to work for Buck. Without payment, without flirting, no effort at all, Buck is his and Chris’s. Secondly, in all the years they’ve known each other, Buck has never turned on the charm (at least completely) on Eddie. So for Eddie, he just doesn’t get it, why would someone (need) to spend that much money on (his) Buck?

imagine an evan buckley, who despite the stress of almost losing eddie, is pretty calm and collected. not because he doesn’t care of course, but because eddies going to be okay and he believes in that and most of all because chris and eddie need him. chris needs to be cared for, so of course buck will.

i feel like it would be such an interesting growth in buck to see how far he has come around the idea of people he love being hurt. he cares and he’s scared and everything is sad and stressful for a bit, but in a more “normal” response way not a “better if i had been shot” way.
