Hi!!
I saw the answer you guys post a couple of days ago. I hope I'm sounding... rude? or desperate? but I kind of am (desperate)? in a way...
Anyway, have you guys decide... yet??
You know, if that won't be possible, it's alright, right?? I understand it, and believe that anyone who's interested would too.
So...?? any news??
Even if just to say no??
Hi! You're not sounding rude at all. We are aware that it's alright if it's not possible, thanks. It wouldn't be the first year we haven't been able to do it. That said, here's an answer (and we apologize for not posting sooner; it slipped my mind due to a busy week! I meant to post two days ago, that's on me.)
We will not be hosting Secret Santa this year due to time constraints and the busy lives of our mods. We apologize if anyone feels let down with this decision and support anyone else who may want to step in with their own Secret Santa this year. (If anyone does want to host their own this year here on tumblr, we will happily share the event, just send us an ask!)
Hopefully we'll be back next year! Happy holidays!

Hii @goodbye432, I'm your backup gifter for @mlsecretsanta! Sorry for the long wait, but I hope you like this! It's a Lukanette soulmate au, wherein they see color for the first time when they meet each other :) With a little red string of fate thrown in there. Happy Very Belated Holidays, and I hope you're doing alright!
hey @carelisswriting. i'm your way-past-christmas @mlsecretsanta. hope you're hungry...
They make it a pattern.Â
They see each other, whether on the streets or a club or just at a clothing boutique because their patterns and lives have become mirrors from years of falling in and out of love. Marinette will smile at ChloĂŠ, walk over and greet her as if it hasnât been mere months since they yelled at each other. ChloĂŠ will run her eyes over the shape of Marinette, from the slope of her nose to the curve of her lips, the shadow of her eyelashes and the gentle motions of her hand.Â
An offer to grab a coffee leads them to Marinetteâs bedroomâalways Marinetteâs bedroomâand then theyâll be memorizing each otherâs bodies and swallowing the gasps of the other as if it wasnât just weeks ago that they were yelling and cursing out each otherâs names. Theyâll spend 24 hours like that, talking in the spaces between to catch the other up. Theyâll mold themselves together again, foolishly believing that this time itâll be permanent, this time they wonât begin to breed hate in their hearts.
Theyâll grab dinner three nights a week, buy each other scarves and hats and bracelets, giggle and call each other âgirlfriendâ with a flirtatious twist. Their friends will roll their eyes and ignore them constantly grabbing each other whenever theyâre in public, will avoid bringing up their disheveled hair and clothing whenever they disappear together. Most days theyâll spend their nights together, make everything that belongs to one belong to the other too, as if this time theyâll last.Â
And then the beginning of the end will come. A few months in, ChloĂŠ will start distancing herself, and Marinette will throw herself into designing. Their friend group will be split into two, with one half listening to ChloĂŠ complain about Marinette not giving her the time of day, and the other half listening to Marinette vent about ChloĂŠ shutting her out. They wonât talk to each other at all, will never acknowledge that if they donât talk theyâll be shouting, have never thought to break their habit of resorting to resentment.Â
Thereâs no more sitting in the back making out in movie theaters, no more silly fashion shows where the pièce de rĂŠsistance is something completely ridiculous like a left sock or Marinetteâs freckles or ChloĂŠâs left forefinger nail. Itâs empty silences and passive-aggressively setting their keys down on the counter. Itâs sleeping alone in their own places, inhaling each othersâ scent left on the bedding. They never think to themselves I can fix it, never say I should reach out. They leave that responsibility to the other, always have, blaming each other and pointing fingers the way they used to when they were younger.Â
Marinette will swipe away the house key she gave to ChloĂŠ, and then show up a week later to find her tearing at all of Marinetteâs gifts. Theyâll yell and scream, shouting insecurities until all thatâs left is shattered glass disguising their heart. Marinette will collect herself, set down the key she has to ChloĂŠâs place and walk out. ChloĂŠ always waits three hours after Marinette leaves before breaking down, letting herself feel numb until the tears making their way down her face burn.Â
And then theyâll avoid each other, go out of their way to stay away from the othersâ favorite places until enough time has passed that theyâre not worried about things being awkward.Â
Then they run into each other, and the clock starts all over again.

In a dark era, two detectives take on the ever-unsolved case of the Butterfly Mask. Under the guise of Ladybug and Char Noir, however, two ordinary people begin their own investigations into each other.
Marinette is a perfectly ordinary woman, running a bakery. Her nights are spent in a mask, walking the streets of Paris with her partner.
Adrien models for his fatherâs company, having avoided the draft two years ago. At night, he slips through his fatherâs homeâs security to become the Black Cat to his Ladyâs luck.
Behind their information are TIKKI and PLAGG, two newly-minted AIs that say theyâre from the future, sent to help Ladybug and Chat Noir discover the truth behind the famously unsolved Case of the Butterfly Mask.

Adrien pushed around the food on his plate, his gaze darting over to look at Nathalie for a moment. She was sitting off to the side, tapping away at her tablet as she worked.
âNathalie?â
She looked up, her eyes showing just the slightest hint of confusion.
âYes, Adrien?â
He shifted in his seat âHow do youâŚhow do you tell someone you love them?â
Nathalie blinked.
She sighed, taking off her glasses for a moment to rub at her forehead, before placing them back on the bridge of her nose and looking at Adrien.
âAdrienââ
âNo, itâs fine, forget I said anything.â He said, already turning back to his food.
Nathalie didnât move for a moment, before nodding and going back to her tablet.
Adrien tried to avoid crying.
He mostly succeeded, only a few tears making their way onto the wood of the table.
***
She didnât know why she was doing this. This definitely wasnât in her job description. But, Adrien had asked her a question.
She wanted to answer it. To help him. She hadnât known what to do in the moment, and she knew her reaction had come off badly. But she wanted to help him.
This had to have been sparked by one of his classmates, but, well. Even if Gabriel had been so stringently against Adrienâs attendance at school, she doubted he would stand in the way of his son finding love.
He had a real soft spot for romance, what with Emilie.
Nathalie ignored the small whisper in her mind that said that she was another one of Gabrielâs soft spots.
She leaned against the wall for a moment, before knocking on Adrienâs door.
She heard the usual scramble to hide whatever it was he was doing, before he said âCome in!â
She sighed fondly as she pushed open the door. He wasnât nearly as sneaky as he thought he was, but he was also fourteen. No one was any good at hiding things at fourteen. And it wasnât as if whatever he was hiding could truly be that important to hide.
Adrien glanced up at her from in front of his piano, where she was entirely sure he had not been sitting before she came in.
âDid my schedule change?â Adrien asked, his eyes flicking downwards for a moment.
Nathalie shook her head, before looking around for somewhere to sit. Sheâd prefer not to have this conversation standing up, or more accurately sheâd prefer to have it where both of them were sitting down. She knew that her height, despite being average for a woman, could come off as intimidating to a fourteen-year-old boy who hadnât grown into his own height yet.
She sat down on the couch, having to turn a bit to face Adrien, who was looking at her with no small amount of confusion from the piano bench.
âNathalie? IsâŚis everything okay?â He asked.
She gave him a small smile, avoiding showing her wince. Sheâd undoubtedly managed to remind the boy of less pleasant conversations, serious ones.
âI thought I would answer your question from earlier.â
Adrienâs eyes widened, before his gaze darted to the floor.
âItâs fine, really, I wasnât trying toââ He started to say, before Nathalie cut him off by holding a hand up.
âAdrien. I want to help.â
The boy looked at her for a moment, before his shoulders slumped. âOkay, I guess. SoâŚwhatâs your advice?â
He sounded very hopeful that Nathalie would have some magical solution to his problems. Unfortunately, she could not offer anything of the sort.
Nathalie resisted the urge to take off her glasses before she answered. She had a feeling this answer was not going to go over well. It certainly would not have gone over well with her, when she was a teen.
Or go over well now, if she felt like being brutally honest.
âThe simplest way to tell someone you love them is to tell them, Adrien.â She said, trying not to sound patronizing. She knew that most teenagers wouldnât exactly react well to being told to talk about their feelingsâ
âBut I have! She doesnât believe me.â Adrien said, his eyes pleading.
Nathalie blinked.
âWhatâ She doesnât believe you?â
Adrien nodded, a dejected look on his face.
âIâve told her, a lot actually. But she always laughs it off, or says that Iâm not really in love with her. But I am! And Iâ I want her to know that. She should know, even if she doesnât feel the same.â He said, before looking at her with a watery smile.
Nathalie took a moment, just one, to be extremely glad she was no longer a teenager, because this sounded, to be frank, absolutely exhausting.
She let out a breath.
âIâm assuming youâve already tried at least one romantic gesture?â She asked, already knowing she was correct. For all that Adrien tried to play the part of the perfect child, and hide what media he was into from his father, he seemed to forget almost constantly that Nathalie was the one who managed all of the streaming services for the house. Sheâd already seen quite a lot of sappy romance anime pop up on the account over the last few months.
Adrien nodded âI brought her flowers, and tried to set up a date, but she didnât show up until late, soââ
His eyes widened, and he cut himself off.
Nathalie raised an eyebrow.
Adrien cringed.
âIn the interest of not derailing this conversation, this likely occurring weeks ago, and with the full expectation there will not be a repeat, I am willing to let this slide.â She said, attempting to keep some of the fondness out of her tone. She mostly succeeded.
Adrien let out a breath, his eyes darting to the side for a second.
âBut, yeah. She doesnât believe me.â
Nathalie took a moment to think.
She then considered the type of anime that Adrien watched.
And Gabriel and Emilieâs relationship, before herâŚBefore.
Take into account how overdramatic it all wasâŚ
She sighed.
âAdrien. Did you actually tell this girl you love her, or did you make big speeches about it?â
Adrien blinked, his brow furrowing âThatâIsnât that how you tell people you love them? And Iâve been flirting, too.â
Nathalie finally gave into the urge to take off her glasses and rub her forehead.
âIâm sure. Speeches are well and good, but they can seem insincere. She might have thought you were making a joke.â
Adrien puffed up in a way that, oddly, reminded Nathalie of a kitten just learning how to use its claws âI wasnât joking about itââ
âI know, Adrien. But Iâm not so sure this girl would.â She said, putting her glasses back on.
He deflated.
âYou really think so?â
Nathalie sighed again.
âYou should try telling her, no speeches, no big gestures. Just tell her.â
Adrien looked at her for a moment.
He nodded.
âItâs not like I can make it any worse, really.â
Nathalie refrained from pointing out the possibility of the girl rejecting him out of hand. It wasnât worth it to bring up now. And if the girl didâ
Nathalie avoided following that thought to its logical conclusion.
She wasnât Adrienâs mother. It wasnât her place to get angry on his behalf, or comfort him.
Though, that was close to what she was doing now.
She shook her head slightly. No, this was answering a question her bossâs child had asked her. It was completely within professional bounds.
If you stretched those bounds a bit.
Nathalie took a moment to gather herself, before nodding sharply.
âIâm glad I could help. Now, if youâll excuse me, I should be getting home.â
Adrien startled âOh yeah, of course, sorry for keeping you lateââ
Nathalie shook her head âIt was no issue, Adrien.â
She stood, walking to the door.
She had just turned the handle when Adrien called out to her.
âThank you.â
Nathalie didnât bother with an exchange of meaningless pleasantries, but she did turn to look Adrien in the eye as she nodded at him.
***
Chat Noir was practically bouncing as he waited on the rooftop for Ladybug. Usually, he showed up way closer to when their patrols started, but he just couldnât help himself, not after his conversation with Nathalie.
Sheâd been surprisingly helpful. Heâd asked her in the first place cause heâd thought sheâd have some advice, well heâd hoped sheâd have advice at least, but really, he hadnât expected her to be able to figure out an issue in his approach so easily.
Itâd also beenâŚreally nice, talking to her about this. She was nice, when she wasnât officially on the clock.
It had probably been a mistake to try to talk her during dinner, she was always busy working thenâ
There was a scuff on the roof behind him, and Chat Noir turned around with a wide smile.
âMy lady! Nice of you to give a lonely cat on a roof some company.â He chirped, already bounding over to his ladyâs side, even as she rolled her eyes.
âWouldnât have been so lonely if youâd shown up when you normally do. Itâs still ten minutes before our patrol actually starts.â She said, exasperated. Under that, howeverâŚ
Chat smiled at her, a more genuine one than his wide grin.
âAre you worried, my lady?â He asked, hoping that the affection came through more than his worry for her.
âIâm not worried, Chat. IâmâŚsurprised.â
Chat Noir couldâve kept poking at her, and it was really tempting to, considering how much he loved their banter, but he had actually come here early to do something specific.
He took a breath, before looking at Ladybug.
âI love you.â
Ladybugâs eyes widened a fraction, and she took a step back.
âChatââ
âIâm not joking, I wouldnât joke about this, and I mean it, okay? I donât care we donât know each other behind the masks, I know you. I know how you beam when you figure out a yoyo trick, I know how you stand strong under so much pressure, how you bend but donât break, I know how you like your teaâ I know you, my lady.â He said all in a rush, making sure there was no way for her to misinterpret it.
It took a moment for him to realize heâd definitely just ignored Nathalieâs advice of âno speechesâ.
Ladybug was looking at him with shock.
âChat, we canât. Itâs not safeââ
Chat growled in frustration, before cutting himself off in case Ladybug thought he was frustrated with her.
âI donât want to live my life by just in case, what if this, I want to live my life. I donât want to give Hawkmoth that power.â
There was already too much control in his regular life, in his opinion. He wanted to not have to worry about it here.
Ladybug bit her lip, looking away.
âThereâsâChat, thereâs someone else.â
Chat Noir could just about feel it as his heart shattered.
âOh.â
Ladybugâs eyes met his.
âThis isnâtâChat, youâre one of the most important people in my life. Youâre my partner, butââ She cut herself off, wringing her hands.
He just waited for her to speak again.
âI thought you were joking.â She said helplessly.
Chat shrugged âI wasnât.â
They stood there for a moment, looking at each other.
He broke the silence first.
âItâs okay, my lady. I just, wanted to make sure you knew. That I was being honest.â
Ladybug nodded, before shaking her head slightly.
Chat cocked his head.
âMy lady?â
Ladybug looked at him. Her eyes were so blue.
âYou really were in love with me this whole time. Since the first day.â
âTechnically, it was closer to the second day I realized it, but yeah.â
She looked at him a moment longer.
Before letting out a small noise of frustration.
âThis is stupid, this is so stupidââ She mumbled under her breath, apparently forgetting for the moment that Chat had very good hearing while in the suit.
His shoulders dropped, but he managed to keep the heartbreak off his face.
âMy lady, itâs really okay, we can patrol nowââ
Ladybug looked at him, before her eyes widened slightly. âNo, Chat, kitty, I didnât mean it like that.â
He looked away.
Ladybug sighed, before he heard a small shuffling sound.
âLook, I thoughtâyou always seemed to like flirting, a lot. I assumed you were doing it to be silly. But you werenât, andââ
She grabbed his hand, and Chat looked up at her, seeing tears in her eyes.
He blinked.
âChat, I donât know what to do. My crush, Iâve been in love with him for months, butââ She paused, taking a breath âYouâre my partner. I thought you were joking, so I didnâtâconsider it. And now Iâm considering it.â
Chat Noir managed to keep the desperate hope bubbling up in his chest from spilling out all over his face.
âMy lady, I wouldnât try to keep you from your crushââ
âI know you wouldnât, kitty.â She said, squeezing his hand.
ââbut if itâs notâ Youâre not dating him yet. And he wouldnât know if you were dating me. We couldâ date until you figure out what you want to do, or get him to like you?â He suggested, trying not to feel like he was doing something wrong as he did so. This felt way weirder to suggest than it had seemed when heâd seen a character in an anime propose something similar.
Ladybug looked at him for a moment âThat, it wouldnâtâChat, it wouldnât be fair to him. Also, if we were dating, I wouldnâtâI wouldnât want to do that to you, make you feel like a replacement, or a placeholder.â
Chat knew that all that was on his face was his love for his lady.
âI know, my lady.â
It was well past when patrol was supposed to start.
He went to pull his hand away, figuring the conversation was over, but Ladybug didnât let go.
He looked back at her, seeing a look on her face that he wasnât sure what to do with. It was the same look she got when she summoned a Lucky Charm, and had just figured out the perfect plan.
They hadnât figured a plan at all, so whyâ
She pressed a kiss to his check, and Chat Noirâs train of thought stopped in its tracks.
âKitty, letâs just see what happens. Iâm not in love with you, and thereâs still my crush, butâwe can date. We can try. Iâll give it a chance.â
Chat Noir forcibly kickstarted his brain back into working so he could look at her with adoration.
âOf course, my lady! And if anything happens with your crush, Iâll back off, I promise.â
Ladybug smiled at him âI know, kitty.â
There was a moment.
âAlso, we are not telling any of the press about this.â
Chat Noir chuckled.
âAgreed. Not after Prime Queen. That was a catastrophe.â
Ladybug groaned, before squeezing his hand one last time and dropping it.
âCâmon, first one to the Arch gets to pick where we stop for snacks on the way back.â She said, before throwing out her yoyo before he even had a chance to respond.
He glared after her, his lady, hisâgirlfriend, and smirked.
âOh, you are so on, my lady.â
He threw himself off the roof, laughing as he chased after her.
***
Nathalie barely noticed when Adrien stepped in front of her a few days later, absorbed in the paperwork for the next line.
She noticed when his bouncing threatened to knock over some of the papers on her desk.
âWhat, Adrien?â She asked, trying her best to keep the frustration out of her tone. It wasnât Adrienâs fault one of the factory owners was apparently throwing a hissy fit about the new production orders.
âIt worked! Your advice, I mean. She realized I love her.â
Nathalie blinked, taking a moment to get her bearings.
Then she smiled.
âIâm glad, Adrien. Now if you donât mind, I need to have this paperwork for your father by the end of the day.â
Of course, Gabriel would likely give her another day if she truly needed it, but she didnât want to cause any unnecessary delays or trouble for him.
Adrien beamed.
âYeah, got it. And thanks again for the advice!â He said, before running off, presumably excited to get to school and see the girl he loved. He hadnât actually said who it was, but Nathalie didnât mind. She was sure sheâd find out eventually.
She went back to the paperwork, giving a fond shake of her head.

Merry super-duper late Christmas @arisu-artnfics! Technically a back-up gifter. Anyway, I normally never take this long, but life got weird and hard. Nevertheless, you shall not be giftless anymore. I saw that you like Marichat, so I wrote a little something with the pair, with fluff and a dash of hurt/comfort with hopeful ending.
To the @mlsecretsanta team, thank you for being so patient with me and giving me the opportunity to still be a part of this wonderful tradition. You guys are the best.
Christmas Eve, Silent Night
Snow softly fell down the city, leaving a thin layer of white dust on the streets. Every step Chat Noir took left footprints in the oddest of places for a normal person, but very typical of a cat themed superhero. Lamposts and ledges became slightly uncovered with every jump he took, until he landed on a rooftop close to a bakery he knew very well.
Chat Noir stepped closer to the railing, resting his forearms on it as he stared at the warm lights emitting from the building. He always enjoyed how warm Marinetteâs childhood home seemed. And felt, from the times he had visited. He didnât visit much these days, though.
Marinette had moved out of her parentâs once she started university. She mainly stopped by to visit her parents, or work the occasional shift when she needed some extra money. In that particular evening, she was most likely helping them with the Christmas Eve rush before having a pleasant dinner with them.
It was the reason he was out on patrol in the first place. Ladybug had offered to take the shift, or to at least accompany him. But he insisted on patrolling for the holiday. She had done enough after the toy drives that he missed due to work. Plus, it gave him the opportunity to have the wonderful view of a happy home.
And a good thing too, as he noticed their specials sign get knocked over by a rowdy tourist passing by. Chat Noir took out his baton on instinct and vaulted his way to the sidewalk. With a swift movement, he straightened up the sign. Only to get knocked again, along with his forehead, by the bakery door.
âSorry!â the melodic voice of Marinette apologized. âI didnât see youâŚOh, hi Chat Noir.â
As he rubbed his new bump, his eyes focused on the young woman before him. âHi, Maââ
âItâs Chat Noir!â Tom Dupain had suddenly popped his head from behind her, startling them both. Next thing he knew, the young man was having his hand furiously shaken and was dragged inside the bakery. âLook, Sabine! Itâs Chat Noir!â
âOh, dear, you were out there?â Sabine Cheng asked, moving towards a stack of paper cups. âArenât you cold in that suit?â
âUhâŚâ his eyes shifted from Marinetteâs amused face to her parents, already having recovered from the surprise interruption. âItâs fine. It adapts.â
âHa! I wish my clothes would adapt like that!â Mr. Dupain boomed in laughter, as he pulled on his sweater.
âWell, regardless if it adapts or not, here.â Chat Noir suddenly had a warm cup of hot chocolate in his hands, placed there by Mrs. Cheng. When did she even get this? he wondered. âI hope you're keeping warm.â
âI am, thank you,â he chirped.
âOh! Now that you're hereâŚâ Mr. Dupain grabbed his wrist and started pulling him to one of the displays.
âPapaââ Marinette started, but Chat Noir already had Mr. Dupain's arm around his shoulders, as he was shown what seemed to be black and green macarons.
âDo you realize that you have been our own superhero for six years and a half?â he said, slightly shaking the hero. With a proper look at the pastries, Chat Noir noticed a distinct pawprint on them. âIt's your six years and a half anniversary!â
âPapa, I donât think people usually celebrate half anniversaries,â Marinette chuckled.
âBut this is so sweet!â Chat Noir couldnât help but say, giving her a large smile, to which she fondly rolled her eyes.
âYou should take some,â Mrs. Cheng offered as she opened the display.
âI'll get it, maman,â Marinette offered. âYou can finish closing up.â
Mrs. Cheng agreed, yet Chat Noir didnât miss the sly smile she gave to her daughter before asking her husband to recover the very sign he attempted to rescue moments ago. He sipped on his drink, delightedly watching Marinette acquire a pair of tongs.
âI see your parents are still very welcoming,â he commented as she prepared a box for him.
âShouldnât you be finishing patrol?â Marinette shot back.
âI only have a few blocks left.â
âSee, you still have a route to complete.â
âI get the sense that you donât want me here.â
Marinette sighed, closing the box. âYou know I donât mind you coming here,â she said softly. âBut if my parentsââ
âI know,â he cut in.
A silence stretched between them with unsaid words. The only thing breaking it being the sound of a door opening, followed by the smell of meat. Chat Noirâs nose twitched, seeking the smell.
âTheyâre done!â Mrs. Cheng announced. Chat Noir had been so distracted by what Marinette was doing, he hadnât even noticed her mother had left the room for several minutes. In her hands, she was holding what seemed to be a plate of homemade dumplings.
âI didnât know you were cooking,â he excitedly said.
âThereâs more upstairs, including a full dinner Iâve been making for the occasion. Would you like to stay for it?â Mrs. Cheng asked.
âO-Oh, umâŚâ Chat Noir stared longingly towards the dumplings, right before his eyes shifted towards Marinetteâs blushing face. He let out a soft sigh with a smile before responding: âThank you for the offer, but I need to finish my run around the city. I promised Ladybug.â
âThatâs a shame,â she lamented.
âYouâre welcome here anytime,â Mr. Dupain said as he placed the box of macarons in his free hand. âMaybe Iâll convince you to take my daughter on a date one of these daysââ
âPapa!â Marinette squawked, her face turning even redder. âYou know how dangerous it can be for a superhero to date a civilian.â
âSee, sheâs interested!â
âNo, Iââ she smacked her hands on her face.
Chat Noir barked out a laugh at Marinetteâs reaction. Mr. Dupain could say the darndest things in his presence sometimes.Â
âIâm sure that, whoever she eventually ends up dating, will be the luckiest guy in the world.â
âYou donât have to oversell it,â Marinette muttered, as she averted her eyes in embarrassment.
âYou have a great daughter, Mr. Dupain,â he added. âIâm sure sheâll end up with someone who deserves her. For now, though, I must take my leave. Thank you for the macarons.â
Chat Noir made an exaggerated bow in farewell, taking the opportunity to place the now empty cup on the counter. Before turning, he took one last look at Marinette and gave her a covert wink. The next second, he used his baton to jump once again across rooftops.

Chat Noir softly landed inside the room. Thanks to his night vision, he was able to effortlessly place the box of macarons on the desk and drag himself to the bed, flopping on it. A part of him was admittedly regretting his offer to take the Christmas Eve shift. But then again, it wasnât like there was any family waiting for him.
The door to the room creaked open, and a smile wormed itself into his face. The second he felt the bed dip he curled against the body that had sat down next to him.
âWhy canât we tell your parents, at least?â his muffled voice asked.
âIâm pretty sure my parents wouldnât be able to resist telling the world Iâm dating a superhero,â the soothing voice of Marinette responded, accompanied by the soft scratching of his hair.
âBut their dinners are so tasty,â he whined.
âYou know I didnât come empty-handed, right?â
âItâs not the same.â
âHmm.â Marinette laced her fingers through his hair. âI know. Maybe someday. Soon, hopefully. You did say Ladybug is close to figuring out the new butterfly miraculous holder, right?â
âIt seems so,â he said with a shrug. âStill, by the eighth month, normal couples are already starting to talk about the future and stuff.â
âYeahâŚâ Marinette whispered. âDo you⌠think about that stuff?â
Chat Noir frowned, finally ungluing his face from her body to look at her wondering face. He gulped, tempted to give a joke answer, but feeling the need to be honest. Sitting up on the bed, he took her hand and spoke: âIâd be lying if I said I havenât.â
âI see.â She squeezed his hand. âI wish we could talk about it more.â
He sighed. âMe too.â
They looked at each other for a moment, Chat Noir thinking about how badly he wanted to ask her to marry him. But he couldnât. Not as a superhero. They had to wait for when it was safe to reveal his identity. So, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down to the bed with him. Marinette laid on his chest, taking soft breaths.
âThe foodâs in the kitchen counter,â she quietly said.
âIn a minute. I just want to be here with you for a bit.â
âHmm.â
The day they had decided to start dating was most likely not their finest decision. Although Chat Noir didnât regret a single second spent with Marinette as his girlfriend, it did worry him sometimes. That she might wake up someday and decide she deserves a relationship she can share with the world. He would understand if that ever happened.
Of course, he hoped that wouldnât be the case. Because, if his suspicions were correct, then maybe, just maybe, there was a good chance Marinette knew exactly what it was like to hide oneâs identity, and she would do everything in her power to make sure the relationship would survive. Even if it was against the world.
