Futurism

This is an example of futurism, a scheme designed by State Architect Sosthène Weis between 1905 and 1910, was a future metamorphosis of Luxembourg’s Hotel Des Postes. This design shows that futurism means creativity ad innovation that allows design to be high and wide, glass and steel.

Art Deco

Art Deco was an introduction to geometric form and colors and stepped structures. Therefore, these earrings provide elegant curves, shapes and colors dominant in 1925 era. its elegance and beauty stands out with any outfit.

Late-Modernism 

This is a picture of the Miriam Hospital found by Jewish community in 1925 in providence, Rhode Island. This picture represents the Renaissance period as building portrait a heavy and solid look. 

This is the renovated and the new face of the Miriam Hospital today, which represents the Neoclassicism. The building is much more finer, the luxury glass wall gives a beautiful and a much lighter look. 

At my job the rooms are very small which give me limited space to move around, some times I have to walk sideways to get to the patient. The poor design of the indoor environment and the multiple patient equipments don’t allow families to visit long with patient, at times family have to switch because the room doesn’t fit everyone at once. The rooms can only fit one chair and it’s not the very comfortable one, which does not encourage families to stay for long time. According to Naccarella (2016) “The three elements of workplace design that most significantly affected nurses were space, proximity and indoor environment quality (p. 6).” These three factors impact nurses performance as these are empirical for the nurses to get task done. 

Scampering

Using scampering, I would modify the rooms by making it bigger so that family has enough room to visit with patient, adding a comfortable chair/couch for visitors. place equipment where the wires are out of the way. Good lightening so that patients who has impaired vision have no trouble seeing at night. Also, use a more vibrant color that is happy and welcoming to patients and families. 

Color and Line

As Aspelund (2015) cited, the the color involved four basic dimensions: hue, value, intensity, and temperature. these dimensions can produce an emotional response. For instance, the intensity ( low saturation of the colors) and the value (light color) of the wall paint and wall decoration gives me a sense of peace every time I’m in my bathroom. The hue colors gold, tan, and the wood cabinet merge together and give the bathroom a peaceful and cozy look. The lines on the shower door, connect and form a big circle and little starts which are the point where the circle connects.  

Pattern and Texture 

This work of art, a fine crochet lace stitches creates both visual interest and tactile sense. The soft fabric and elegant handmade touch repeats itself and form flowers, triangles, and circles. When combine with the decorations it creates an elegant look in the house although not very much used nowadays. It can be used in different places such as for couch, table, nightstand, etc. To do this, one need only a crochet hook and yarns. It’s very easy and fun to make .

Design- battery charged, must be plugged, mobile. use for adult, pediatrics, and neonatal. VS includes BP, HR, Temperature, pulse oximeter. each VS component has a wire that connects to the machine. works with the touch oaf a button. 

Needs- vital signs monitoring, enable more time for patient care, fast and use to use. 

Constrains- VS readings may be inaccurate compared to manual, wires may be a safety hazard in patient rooms. wheels make noise which is bothersome to patient especially at night shift while patients are sleeping. this leads to patient dissatisfaction.

How would you use these in the kind of situations described in either DiNardo 2015 or Eagle 2016?

The hospital where I work at has this toilet design that a lot of our patients find convenient  but most chose not to use it becasue they’re not comfortable using it. The patient rooms are very small, and therefore we don’t have enough space for bathrooms. I personally wouldn’t use this toilet if I was a patient there. Our rooms then become even crowded because patient always request bedside commode and that takes extra space. We have patients who come for peritoneal dialysis and these patients can’t use those rooms, so they’re sent to B-side where bathrooms are available to prevent them from acquiring infection. A patient told me that it feels awkward when she washes her hand on that sink, “I feel like my hands are dirty even after I wash them because there is a toilet under the sink”.

The design of the light switch is the issue at my house. Every light switch is located behind the door instead of being in the opposite side. My husband and I bought this house two years ago and we always wonder who had this brilliant idea? If I’m coming home and it’s dark I use my phone’s light to get behind the door in order to turn the lights on. We have been wanting to change this design but something always comes up and it gets postponed. We finally made the decision to work on it in a couple of months and we can’t wait to have it fixed. It’s driving everyone insane.
